htc thunderbolt locked up

saturday my thunderbolt (unrooted) locked up/froze up showing nothing on the screen @ any time other than what i describe as a download icon in the middle of the screen w/ a pic of a generic phone(?) under it. nothing i know to do affects this. techs @ verizon claim they've never seen this b4. verizon sends me a new phone 2day, i get it all set up and within an hr. or so the same thing happens to the new phone. aaarrrggggghhh!!! is this the phone? is it hacked in some way? virus?? what can i do? how can two separate phones (same sim & memory card) suffer the same problem unless account or app is hacked in sum way? any help is way appreciated, thanx, mike. ps- both times this happened i heard notification sound (all my message sounds r the same), the 2nd time i actually witnessed a download bar below the b4 mentioned pic load up to full then disappear.

Since we still don't have much information... I'll take a guess... maybe it's an app... if you think it's a virus you might want to download an app called "Antivirus Free", it can do a full system scan for virus'.

thanx 4 the response & thanx 4 the suggestion, i'm headed off to verizon store right now, 4 someone as non-technically skilled as myself, it's my best 1st move. i'll mention the app. & keep u posted. thanx again, mike.
