I think it will be fine where it is as long as you have a dock for it. I have one for my Droid and my GF Droid X. They both have the port in the same place as the TB. Then the dock plugs in to keep it charged.

Without a HDMI out the only reason to need that port is to charge it.

the two phones you mention don't have built in kickstands! I'm already over it but it is a major design fail.

At first I thought this was a really dumb question, but then I thought about it more and I see the merit. If the kickstand clicked in place, maybe, but I think the phone will be just too heavy.

In videos it seems to have a good bit of resistance but we wont know till we have it in hand.

Bottom left opposite kickstand hinge so the mico usb port would be under the device in landscape with the kickstand out.

I agree, but they need to put it on the top, not the bottom, if it is on the bottom, then you can't charge while in portrait mode. And if I understand correctly, htc sense doesn't have a landscape mode for the home screens.

that stand is hideous! try this one way better. but even then it is just not right to sell and market one of only two phones in the world with a built in stand for entertainment and then require someone to purchase another $30-60 stand or dock if they want to charge while they entertain!!! stupid! they obviously thought about it on the EVO!

Is it a good location? No.

But for me I really don't touch my phone when it is charging and I'm not big on multimedia on my phone currently. Really it is what it is. As long as the port doesnt break, it's a success to me.

If you have a desk or table that you often use for skyping/watching videos on your phone, you could just make a small hole and put one of those covers a lot of desks have for that reason. My desk has one for computer cables and such, but if you plan on really using the kickstand for extended periods, it's not the worst idea

They are the only Android phones with Built-In kick stand , but not the only 2 in world

I gotta admit , As much as i like the ThunderBolt this pretty missed up by HTC (or as some people say : FAIL) , I guess they didn't notice that when they gave it a Go to production !
