I'm considering retiring my HTC Droid Incredible and picking up a Razr. Maybe the Razr Maxx for the extra battery. I've never been a huge Moto fan, but I do like the feel of the Razr. I have a few questions that maybe some here could help me decide whether to ditch my Dinc.

I am rooted, S-off, Rom changed, kernel changed, etc a zillion times over on my Dinc. The phone was incredibly easy to root with Unrevoked, and the xda community is still banging out awesome roms for this device. I know I will have to give this up as Moto Locks the bootloader. However, I've never gotten the hang of rooting for Moto. I don't even understand the terminology. I've never successfully rooted my wife's D2. Is there a one click method for the Razr, or at least a dummies guide to get me there? I can't live without Wireless Tether, and I'd like to transfer data from many games on my dinc through Titanium.

My other major need is the camera. My wife's D2 sucks. I'm mean sucks. The whole phone, but specifically the camera. It takes terrible pictures. My Dinc takes incredible stills. I think it takes better pics than the iPhone. I've compared them, and I just love the camera on the Dinc. How is the camera on the Razr? If it sucks as bad as the D2, then that is a deal breaker for me.

I came from incredible 2 to razr! Camera software is improved alot, and to root, all you have to do is download a .zip file, extract, plug up phone, enable usb debugging, clik on .bat file that you extracted, and sit back and watch it all happen! Thats for windows and linux systems, not sure about mac! Awsome build quality, all around great phone! I highly recomend it, seeing as i have had droid1,2, x1, x2, fascinate, inc1, and 2! Only warning, if you prefer roms, kernels, etc all razr can do is roms, and scripts! so if you are into flashing a new rom every other day, then go to nexus. but if you take moto's word for it, then maybe soon! Nitro and few others have nice polished roms out, plus moto cast is awsome! Hope this helps! Will say once again this is the best phone i have had by moto by far, and hardware to last throughout contract

I too was an HTC fanboy for a few years (DInc, TBolt) but I woke up and said to myself, "Why?". They make nice looking phones, and Sense is pretty to look at, but I found myself seeking out Senseless ROMs because I hated being constantly plugged in. I have found that the RAZR has a better radio, better GPS, just as good a camera as my DInc, and a secret weapon for battery life, Smart Actions. I can charge my phone, work a 12 hour shift, and come home with over 70% battery life. In all fairness, I do set the radio to CDMA and disable background sync, but it's worth it to not have my phone die when I am in the field. I use gps when i need it and shut it off when i don't. It still runs faster than my DInc even on CDMA only.

Long story short I felt a little guilty for giving up on HTC, but knowing what I know now I'd do it again with much less guilt.
