Last week I moved my O2 SIM to a new Moto G85 (Android 15)
I followed the given procedures to move my apps and data across to the new phone, and my contacts appear to have synced with my Google account OK.

When I get an incoming call from someone in my Contacts, it shows 'Unknown number'.

I've spent hours with O2 support checking settings, deleting caches, removing/re-adding my Google account, resetting various things, rebooting the phone etc. but without any success. I've also tried a number of diallers and there's no joy there either.

Has anyone out there bumped into this sort of issue? I don't know what else to try.

Thanks

You may need to speak to O2 support to see if something on their end needs to be turned on.

You mentioned checking your Caller ID setting by using a special dialer code -- what about in the Phone app itself? Is there a setting there for Caller ID?

I spent about 2-3 hours yesterday with O2 support on webchat, calls, and FB messaging. We checked all the settings, emptied caches, reset wi-fi, carrier, checked OS version and so on. Their rather dubious conclusion was that it was down to the phone and I needed to speak to Motorola.

However, replies from a question posted on their user forum strongly suggest that it's a known issue and it can be resolved if you are lucky enough to speak to the right person, It was they who suggested I message them via FB and keep nudging them. I got to the point last night where we were going through security and I was told that a code had been sent to me via SMS. Over 12 hours later and no such code has been received.

I'm now preparing to move away to Lebara and have my PAC code in hand......

For any other users out there who are still using Virgin Mobile SIMs after being ported to an O2 account, this issue was resolved by getting a replacement SIM from O2.

Why their support people aren't aware of this issue is beyond me - I had to request the new SIM, it wasn't offered as a potential fix.

Alas, the service has been so poor I shall be moving carrier anyway.

I was going to suggest much earlier getting another sim from a store if the default phone number was originally on it before porting. I had a lot of issues with Three and separately Vodafone. Getting a sim at a store means the initialize a blank sim with your number. it seemed you had it covered though.
How you could use a Virgin sim after porting to O2 I don't know, but I probably misunderstood your post.
Yeh, stores, chat support, online support and telephone support never collate information together when trying to solve an issue. Vodafone were a joke, but a branch manager eventually solved a separate billing problem.
