HTC turned off, will not turn on or indicate charging

I was heading out today and went into Google Maps, punched in an address and started my car. Plugged in my phone and saw it drop into 'dock mode', a mode I'd never seen it in before. I wasn't hearing the map directions, so I decided to just unplug it and let the battery take a hit for me on my drive. I heard a beep when I set it down, and noticed it was off. Holding the power did nothing. So I tried to charge it again. No LED indication. The bluetooth was also disconnected from my car.

I went to my computer and plugged it in. The computer didn't recognize anything as being plugged in. I did some research and tried plugging it into the wall outlet and holding the volume up/down + power for two minutes. Nothing. Not even any LED indications that it was charging or caring about any of my efforts. The screen was black the entire time. All I had was a hunk of useless electronics.

I need my phone for my job, so I can't afford to send it back to HTC and be without a phone all day tomorrow and next week for some time too. Are there any other solutions I am missing here?

Welcome to Android Central! Try plugging it into a wall outlet for at least 6-8 hours undisturbed, before trying to power on again. Still dead?

I left it plugged in overnight, tried it this morning before going into work. Still dead, not responding in any way.

Do you have access to other data cables and wall chargers? If so mix and match them. Ive had some HTC wall chargers stop working on me, but simply unplug and plug back in and they are good.
Also when doing the mix and match, give it 10 minutes each time you plug in to make sure a dead battery might get some juice to try to recover its low voltage state.
Use a flashlight and look into the phones micro usb port, make sure none of the pins are bent, no corrosion, no signs of burning damage.
Its also possible the battery is going bad and it hit its critical low voltage state and its gone.
LI batteries have two critical donts, over heating is one and extreme low voltage. A good cell will rarely hit the low voltage threshold but a battery thats going bad with heavy use might hit that stage.

It is most likely that the problem is from the usb cable.

Sent from my HTC One M8

I managed to borrow another person's charger and cable and it didn't work. The USB port doesn't look damaged or anything. I swapped out another two cables, both of which didn't work either.

Its dead Jim.

Its rare but it does happen. I work on devices for a living and i have had an ATT unit come thru my office with a similar issue. Out of the 30 or so we have repaired simply having no power is not very common.

Out of curiosity, how did you fix it? Or were you forced to just junk it?

I believe on that unit we did a battery replacement..
But on another we found liquid damage.. IT was labeled no power but we found out why it had no power. LOL

my gf had this problem. Hold the power button and the volume up button until it turns on, like up to 15 seconds

Re: HTC turned off, will not turn on or indicate charging

I sent in my phone, hopefully its as simple as replacing a battery. Kind of a shame that HTC wont let us fiddle with the battery. I'd be steamed if it is something as simple as the 'unplug it / plug it back in' fix-all of the electronics world.

And thinks killa, but I tried every possible button combination without luck.
