HTC U11 ability to Transfer Data via USB has died

[Android Central Question]

My U11 charges fine, and works absolutely fine.

However I've discovered that it can't now do anything other than charge via USB.

- My drone (Mavic Air) no longer recognises it is connected to the phone when plugged in
- I just bought a MicroSD USB C reader, which also is not detected by the phone when it's plugged in.

Both devices work fine with my wife's phone (Pixel 2).

Is there a way to fix the USB C port without getting the whole thing replaced?

(I've tried USB debug mode and changing the input-type on there, no luck).

Welcome to Android Central! Have you tried a different cable? Have you cleaned out the port with a can of compressed air, and the contacts with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol?
