Hey Folks!

I got my sapphire blue HTC u11 today and noticed when I tried to set up Android Pay, it gave me the 'Android Pay cannot be used on this device' message. Android Pay works fine on the HTC 10, so not sure what the issue is on a brand new device.

Not sure what the issue is, I kept my setup pretty simple:
- Wiped the 128GB microSD from my old HTC 10
- Transferred only messages and contacts from the 10 to the u11

Apparently the phone doesn't pass SafetyNet test either (something I tried while initially trying to troubleshoot the issue).

I rebooted into recovery and verified that the bootloader was locked.

Finally, sent an e-mail to HTC support. Before I try something like a factory reset, I wanted check if anyone else is having the same problem.

Thanks!

Hi there!

Did you get any warning when rebooting the device?

Even if the bootloader is locked, an I/O error can trip dm-verity (the component responsible for Verified Boot). If that happens, you will see a display like this on boot.

If that's not the case, contact HTC. It may be as simple as a software issue that an update can resolve.

No, thankfully no errors on several reboots. I dropped HTC support a mail, so I'll just wait I guess.

Would it be worth it to do a factory reset meanwhile?

Probably worth a try.

Back everything up just in case.

I got the same error on my new u11 as well. Android support knows nothing about the issue. Since you have the same issue I imagine others may have it too. Mine is the unlocked version since I'm on T-Mobile.

Probably an issue on HTC's end.

If HTC knows, an OTA should be rolling out soon to fix it.

I believe Android Pay won't work on a phone with an unlocked bootloader, but should work on a phone that is carrier unlocked.

Works fine on mine. I didn't set it up until this morning however, after receiving a system update for the U11.

I noticed there isn't an HD voice option either. Still waiting on At&t to expand their Wi-Fi calling to more phones. Is the Wi-Fi calling the internet calls option?

You're right, there isn't. Add another one to the list.

Ah, so the OTA patch is rolling out now to fix it.

That was pretty darn quick. Probably one of those Day One OTA patches.
