Hi there.

Very happy with my U11 accept for this issue.

The notification bar dropdown randomly activates and has a flickering small non-descript circular icon at the top of the screen.

This can happen on the home screen or in app. Swiping up does clear it.

I don't know if this is related but the screen magnification will also randomly activate and de-activate. I turned this feature off in Settings>Accessibility but this is not really a fix.

I have sent a support request to HTC but wondered if these are known/common issues or is it just me?

Thanks

I haven't had this issue, try running it in safe mode and see if this problems persist. If so then try cache partition wipe. That doesn't work sounds like you need a factory data reset.

If you have Sprint, you can take it to a corporate store and see if they can flash the firmware on the device.

I have noticed something happening and I think it has something to do with Alexa. Not sure yet.

I'm having the same issue. It hasn't been long that it has been happening... Being that Alexa is a new update, would make sense if there's a relation...

I'm voting on it being a Google thing. Since the last Photos update, and there's a thread or two referencing it, the screen goes berserk if you try to immediately delete a photo you've just taken. Power button to turn off the screen takes care of it, but it's still annoying as . This seems to be in a similar vein.

So I got a reply from HTC Support with suggested courses of action.

The first step was a screen drawing test which didn't show up up any issues.

Next was to run in safe mode but again this didn't solve the problem.

Third option was a factory reset. Didn't try this yet, The final option is to send it to a approved repair centre.

Noting the above comments, I am leaning towards it being a software issue and not hardware related, so maybe waiting for the next update before doing the factory reset or sending it to the repair centre.

That's unfortunate to hear... I felt like the last couple days it went away or if anything lessened but maybe it's more due to less phone use... it's been a real nuisance today. I'm doing the same, waiting on an update for now. Mine tends to do this a lot when I'm long pressing or longer finger contact such as scrolling.

I've been having a few issues the last several days now. It didn't start until I came to this thread, but I'm sure that's not the reason.......

Anyway, it's not necessarily the notification shade pulling down all the time. It's more that the screen is seeing phantom touches. They generally happen at the top, but not always. I can tell by the small white dots that indicate a screen touch. Though I don't actually remember turning that function on, I'm glad it is because it let's me see what's happening. Sometimes it's just a single or double touch. Sometimes it's multiple touches back and forth across the screen. If I turn the screen off and then right back on it stops. But it is annoying af when it happens.

Update: I went through all of the settings and found Glove Mode turned on. I turned it off and so far I've had no issues over the last two days. I also notice that the screen isn't so damn sensitive anymore as well. Before, just hovering over the screen would register a touch. That's a bigger issue than you might think, as your fingers say close to the screen while you're typing.

I have the same exact issue on top of the home button not working out of nowhere for weeks now. No glove mode turned on. My HTC U11 is failing in so many unpredictable ways and I bought it straight from the website. VERY disappointed.

i also face the same problem... when i went to service center they said you keep the mobile phone here we will check after a day you can take back .

i did not not find the reasonable and correct reply so i did not hand over the phone.
its in warranty and guarantee period ....

Hi folks

happy with my U11 accept for this issue.

The notification bar dropdown randomly activates and has a flickering small non-descript circular icon at the top of the screen.

This can happen on the home screen or in app. Swiping up does clear it sometimes its get clear by back button. or it activate some other application and home screen settings..

I don't know if this is related but this is not really a fixed up by myself. .

I have been to a HTC support request to HTC but they asked me to drop down the instrument we will check or hard reset , with hard reset word i worried so did not handover them the phone. i wondered if these are common issues or is it just me????

Thanks

Turn off Glove Mode. It's the first option under the Display settings.

Glove mode. Turn Glove mode on so that the touch screen responds more accurately when you're wearing gloves. From the Home screen, tap > Settings > Display & gestures or Display, gestures & buttons. Select the Glove mode option. When Glove mode is turned on, you'll be able to see where you've tapped the touch screen.

I had that issue pre-oreo but now the screen cuts off press-and-hold commands about once every other day, sometimes more. Like if you were to press and hold to record a snap it would just take a picture. You could try mtiple times to take a video and each time it would just do a picture instead. I have a video though the notification shade being pulled down unexpectedly. https://youtu.be/6eUJuWNscWQ
