HTC10 Issues/Problems

I just got HTC 10(sprint), had HTC8(verizon) and MOne(sprint) before that. Here is a list of issues I would like to change. I am not sure if Android, HTC or Sprint makes these decisions, but I wish they would ask me first. :)

1- There is no way to edit or add to the Quick Settings. On HTC8 I had an icon to change the sound status, which was really simple for meetings or before going to sleep. Now you have to adjust the sound toggle every time. Any way to add this to Quick Settings, this is the only think I used in QS.

2 - The Green charging/new email light is 20x brighter than the M8. I can do a hand puppet show on the ceiling of my bedroom. This is ridiculous, much too bright for nighttime. Any way to get it less bright??

3 - The Auto-brightness does not seem to be working. I have it checked, but it does not react like the M8 did at night. So now I have to manually toggle it up and down day and night. A hassle. Not sure why its not responding?

4 - What happened to Gallery. Why are they forcing up to use "Photos"? The Gallery on the M One was great. Every "improvement" is worse. I wish they would just keep it simple.

5 - Using the Mail App. On the M8 the number showed the New emails. Now it shows the total number of unread emails. Is there a way to have it show the New emails. Otherwise it will always be 99 forever and a useless function.

6 - A main peeve is Recent Apps button, the right bottom button. With two swipes I could clearly see 27 apps. Now I have to swipe through the shuffle list and its not clear, I hit the wrong place. Its a really bad choice. I wish he had the option for classic view of Recent Apps.

7 - I have do not update, but it seems Photos app updated and put another icon on the desk top. Does "Do Not Auto-update" not apply to certain apps?

8 - I hope I get used to it in time. But I am finding it hard to exactly hit the right and left bottom buttons. I think there is a setting to keep them on all the time. I have it on all the time now.

9 - What is the deal with the keyboard? Why are the numbers in calculator setting, not across the top like before. I suppose I will get used to in an 2-3 months.

10 - Photos seem to be stored in the DCIM folder on the phone, not the SD card. How do I get them to join their friends from my old camera in the SD card?

Thank you for any help here.

Technically speaking, they arent forcing you to use Photos at all. You have all of google play to find a suitable gallery app really. Also HTC said they are doing a rebuilt gallery app, when it comes out is anyones guess.

The bottom buttons has setting to keep them on at all times. Its also something you adjust to after maybe a few days at most. I now have a hard time hitting right spot for my M8 I use for music at work. I also press on the side for power button when the M8 is on top. So very quickly my brain relearned a different phone and now the 2nd nature M8 feels a little off to me at times.

Keyboard, again, google play has a ton of keyboards to swap to that will fit you wants or needs.

Let's see... I'll answer what I can.

1. For some reason, some manufacturers decided to disable this in Marshmallow.

2. I don't think this is possible. I kinda like it brighter! Ha.

3. Try using Lux Auto Brightness. You can set a minimum brightness level.

4. HTC did away with some of its own apps including Gallery and Music. I do miss Gallery too, but Photos is growing on me. Shuttle is also a great music app.

8. Settings > Display, gestures & buttons > Navigation button backlight

9. I am getting used to TouchPal. I went into the general settings and added the "Number Row". It adds the numbers above the letters, and not just doubling up on the same keys like before.

10. If you go into camera and click on the 2 line menu at the top, I think I chose "Photo", and I'm pretty sure it asked me to save them to the SD card when I was choosing the picture size. The feature is there.

You can put numbers in the top of the keyboard in the settings.
Same story with storing photos.
HTC said they would bring the old gallery back.
The led thing sounds odd, all of my 10s leds were not bright.
My first 10 was glitchy regarding auto brightness, other two were perfect.
I'd try a reset to try and fix the brightness bug before getting too far into setting your phone up.

Thank you very much.
I tried Lux and it stays in the notification area. Trying to figure out if it can work without constantly being in the notification.

Camera - I am not sure what I did. I hit Pro and it asked where to save. I said external. So now I have many many more buttons on the camera than before. Who knew?

Settings > Apps > Lux > Notifications > Block

Also, go into Lux > Advanced > click "Use Alternative Overlay"

For the hell of it, these are my Lux settings:
Adjust: Dynamically
Using Profile: Day

Brightness > Backlight zero point > 28
Fade brightness changes - check
Brightness fade speed > normal
Brightness step speed > normal
Jitter control - check
Jitter percentage > 10
Set min brightness > 28
Set max brightness > 100

One more question. It is downloading to the phone, not the SD card. Cannot find where to change this. Thanks.

BTW, Lux app did not work after restarting. Kept getting multiple error messages every time I turned on the phone. So I deleted it.

You mean your photos? Go to Camera, click on the 2 line menu bar, scroll all the way to left and click settings, and there should be an option to change the storage to removable.

Yes, I did that and the photos I take on the phone now go to DCIM on the SD card. But when I save a photo from texts or email, its still going to the phone's download forlder. Thanks.

I'm not sure those can be saved to the SD card, just like Instagram. I don't think there's an option to switch it.

Has anyone found a dead pixel? I found one after a day of ownership. Can think of 2 other HTCs that I've had that have had dead pixels. If I think harder I can probably come up with more.
