HTCSense.com to be ready for T-Bolt Release?

VZW used to block the use of GPS on their BlackBerry phones. You could ONLY use VZ Navigator, no other 3rd party GPS apps. So I'm not surprised if they block HTCSense.com.

To say that Verizon may block the feature because it may interfere with a service they get paid for is ludicrous at worst, ill-informed at best.

The phone finding feature is offered by Asurion, not Verizon. It was a smart move on the part of Asurion because in the long run it, as any other phone-finding app, will save them money.

Ludicrous? I think it's "ludicrous" that Verizon blocks wifi calling in Skype, which is something that would actually benefit their network. Point being, Verizon is publicly against wireless net neutrality, and their actions are often in conflict with their customer's best interests. I would hesitate to put anything past them.

Download lookout from the Marketplace. It is a pretty nice app that can help you find your phone. For like 25.00 a year you can upgrade to the premium service and remote wipe your phone and a few other perks. I know sense is cool and free (I think) but this is a nice alternative.

Lookout is the #1 Antivirus and Security App for Android.

This is great and all... but I don't wanna pay $25.00/year for something that HTC gives you for FREE. Anyone that hasn't seen the great features that HTCsense.com gives you for free should watch:

YouTube - HTC Desire HD - Video Preview
Go to 6:08 and start from there.

it is pretty neat, but most of the stuff you are able to do in other ways. I mean I couldn't even use htcsense.com for text messages since I use google voice for free text.. Which I have built into google chrome with voice extension....

As for remote wipe and locator I don't need it as usually my devices are expensive pieces of kit which I take care of... Not saying it wouldn't be useful should something terrible happen and I forget it somewhere.

so i hope this means something. but amazon is now showing the thunderbolt. in the description of sense it says you can use htcsense.com

With the next generation of the popular HTC Sense mobile experience, the HTC ThunderBolt 4G automatically delivers your most-wanted information to your screen. It offers even more ways to stay connected--including FriendStream, which delivers Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr updates in a consolidated view. And you'll be able to pinpoint the location of a lost phone on a map, send a command to make the phone sound an alert--even while on "silent" mode--through the htcsense.com web site. If needed, you can also remotely wipe all of the phone's data with a single command in addition to forwarding calls and text messages to a different number.

as this might not mean anything but amazon doesnt write these things. so wonder if it has been enable now or soon to be

Oh crap. Its going to be like 100 dollars if amazon gets it. I will take that route if possible. Only problem is amazon can't add a new line to an existing plan for vzw atm....

That amazon listing is even under Verizon Wireless (so technically not a 3rd part retailer).

iv never went thru a 3rd party or online,iv been asking verizon reps about this. my wife is on fam plan with her parents. im switching to verizon for bolt. she isnt under a contract an im gona get her a cpo droid 2. they are telling me to go ahead an get her a new phone before i switch her to my plan....i was scared of signing a 2 year for her an not being able to bring her over. i no they are seperate contracts. but one rep said def do it before cause she could lose her right to upgrade an bringing a non contracted phone to a new fam plan may lock her to that phone....i think that is bs. but if so i will order her phone off verizon site now an then just bring her over once i recieve the bolt

Just add a feature phone (Razr) or something (anything) and then upgrade your line to the TB.

I think all in all, since i made the thread, the consensus is that VZW will allow htcsense.com , it was clearly stated that it would work in that video with the crazy "awwww yeah" guy. But who knows, it might not work at all or it could be smack dab ready for launch. Refer to mobile hotspot
