Android Central Question

Recently had a notification from the Huawei optimiser app telling me that one of my banking apps has a virus and that I should uninstall it.
My partner had a similar issue with her's but a different banking app.

Could this be correct or is it a glitch in the system?

Welcome to Android Central! Android antivirus apps are notorious for false positives. It's also important to see exactly why an app is flagged -- it might have more to do with some kind of questionable permission rather than true malware. Did you install the banking app from the Play Store, or from Huawei's app store, or from somewhere else?

Thank you for your response on this.
They're the official apps from the Google Play store and have been installed for quite some time before being flagged. The fact I got an alert yesterday and then my partner got 2 today makes me think there's been some kind of definition update in the optimiser virus app rather than any foul play but is it possible for these apps to get inflected?
Thanks again.

If they're installed from the Play Store, then it's unlikely that they're truly infected. Make sure Play Protect is on -- I would trust that more.
