Huawei P20 lite, battery life and wireless symbol no longer showing on screen

Hi I bought a Huawei P20 lite in June this year and switched on the display for battery percentage to show next to icon. The phone also showed if I was on a wireless or mobile data network. Last night, both of these icons disappeared from my screen and I can't get them back. I've checked the display settings (which remain the same as before), powered on and off, wiped the cache, and still they don't show up. Does anyone else have these issues or have any suggestions?
