Huawei P20 Pro fingerprint overheating

I just got a hand me down phone and the fingerprint sensor is hot when I'm not using any apps and super hot when I'm using apps does anybody else have this issue and yes its up to date btw

no, I haven't. I'm wondering if that's a software issue only.

I've seen this issue raised with all different kinds of phones, including iPhones. It may be a sign that something is short-circuiting. If the Power button is getting extremely hot, you should bring it to a repair shop for inspection (or, if the phone is still under warranty, contact Huawei).

It's hard to say , I'm in the US and don't hear much about Huawei device's.

You are probably right and this is going to be a HW issue. I think the fingerprint reader is shorted and therefore hot. Also eating up the battery.
