Huawei P20 Pro - screen typing and other issues

It is only about 4 months old, but it has quite a few annoying niggles. The most obvious is that often when you touch the screen a lot of crap comes out - random characters that are not the ones I have touched, and sometimes a big string of them too. I also don't like the fact that Huawei's software is so embedded in the OS - so for example I get directed to the Chinese Ebay app to install from Huawei's store rather than Play. I was wondering if it is possible to wipe it and put a clean Android O/S on it from scratch, and if so how difficult this would be.

AOSP (Android Open Source) is available for download - that's more "stock" than even a Pixel. But it needs the "Hardware Abstraction Layer" [HAL] to interface to the particular hardware in that phone - and you're on your own on that, unless someone at XDA has written one (which I doubt - people don't publish HALs).

But Lineage 16.0 (from Android Pie - 9.0) is available at https://download.lineageos.org/charlotte. (Read carefully, though, because you'll also have to install the Gapps package to get the Google apps [like Play].)

Thanks for the response. Looks to require a bit more specialist knowledge than I possess on this platform. Perhaps I will look to Huawei to resolve the issues first and maybe return to this if it does not.
