My father just got the 5G SIM from his Service Provider.
I set the APN as usual and immediately received a text message (welcome to the 5G network).
Mobile data is/was working so far! The strange thing is, there's no mobile network connection, meaning no incoming or outgoing calls!
It's connected to the "welcome" network, tho! (German Sim.de) . That's how It worked for my own Phone (S25+) at a different provider, (but same network).
Does anyone have a tip? We've tried both SIM slots, restarting, and APN settings.
We even did a full reset to the phone!
Support has standard answers.
His phone is a Huawei P20 Pro. I thought it might be due to a band switch. But surely nothing has been changed in the 4G settings.
I still have my old phone here, a 7-year-old Honor10. It was released 2 months after his Phone. Even there, my personal new 5G SIM works (as 4G).
So we tried swapping Sims. My new 5G Sim also won't work in his phone. It registers into the network, but that's it. Full Signal, but no calls possible!
His new 5G Sim works in my S25+ , So it's clear, that bis Sim works perfectly fine. It must be something with the phone.
But the weird thing, it worked perfectly (4g)until the new Sim was put in.?!
So, currently, I don't have more ideas.
