what is the consensus?? does HW A work better than HW B after the update?? i have HW A... still have data issues... just had my first BSOD in a LONG time today... not sure what to make of it... i dont want some refurbished phone... but geeze... this is a mess... mine seemed to work better pre update...

Based on the responses I'm seeing in the other threads im gonna say there really is no conclusive answer. Each phone is just different, or the HW A vs B doesn't seem to be the culprit.

Look on the large white sticker under the battery. There's an "HW" with a letter after it. I am trying to verify this with MOTO and find out what the differences are.

I have HW A and my phone doesn't really have any issue after the update. One data drop when entering 4g from 3g. It kicked back in in about 5secs. It was my only data drop in the past week. I am between 4g and 3g areas many times a week. I am in western ny.

I also did a factory reset right before the update to clean the system out. Not sure if that helped or not.

HW "A" here in Orlando area - no issues after the update.
Camera - is amazing how it got so much faster
Data drops - only one since the update and I live in an area where coverage is spotty and weak.

Love this phone.

HW A in a strong 4g area.
Only noticeable difference post update seems to be some websites load a little faster than they did before.
No earth shattering changes, but mine has been well behaved since I got it just under a month after release date.

Launch day Bionic here in SW VA

HW A

No Data drops before or after OTA

4G was activated here Mon 9/12 and since I'm close to the tower on a big hill it's been roock solid. Haven't been on any trips to see how it handles entering or leaving fringe areas.

I am HW A. Haven't had any problems before or after the update. I am extremely happy with a few snappier feeling things since the update and I am no longer getting the error message saying I am out of memory when I am updating apps or installing new ones.

You can still factory reset after the update if you want. May help some issues. It will wipe your whole system though, so save everything. I would call a Verizon tech first and see if they think it will help. On most of the Android phones I have owned I usually factory reset before or after the update. Each device is different though, so maybe call a tech first.

Launch day Bionic:

HW "A"

3G only area in Ohio

Some data drops prior to update
Still data drops after update

2 or 3 BSOD prior to update
One BSOD today after update on last Friday

Transition from 3g to wifi and back to 3g was good prior
Transition from wifi back to 3g after update have had to toggle airplane mode several times

HW "A" (Launch Day phone)

Data drops prior to update.
Data better after update, but still spotty.

BSOD before update.
Haven't had one yet after.

Before update, battery drain/freeze random reboots. Sometimes stuck on reboot screen.
After update, battery drain/freeze random reboots still happening.

HWA here gotten on Oct. 19. The bionic worked fine before OTA though battery drain was high. After OTA still works fine with amazingly better camera and lower but still high battery drain. I am in a fair strength 4G area and have had no problems with signal dropping.
