I am do for an upgrade, should the lawsuit weigh onmy decision?

I would say no. If you read any legal blogs they all seem to lean strongly toward the thought that it will be overturned in some fashion, and if not then at least in the appeals system for quite some time. The only thing I would wait for is the next Nexus branded phone (should be due in the near future) and see what people might be able to do with WP8 (there are android emulators for pc so wouldn't be surprised if they were able to make one for WP8).

Re: I am do for an upgrade, should the lawsuit weigh onmy decisio

I read an article yesterday that claimed the sale of the s3 has increased since the ruling. And the S3 wasn't even part of it. However, Apple amended their claim in a new lawsuit, which DOES include the S3.
I wouldn't let the court cases have any effect on your purchase. They won't take our phones away.

They can't stop carriers from selling the stock that they already have, and considering how many s3's have sold, you'll probably still be able to get one long after they're banned. If they even are. I bought my gnex long after they were banned in the u.s. The s3 and the gnex are great phones, with huge development communities, and will be for a couple of years to come. Buy one man. Youll be sorry if you don't.

Why are you worried about a ban? Do you think they are going to go around collecting the phones that have already been sold? They won't take them back. Lol

Re: I am do for an upgrade, should the lawsuit weigh onmy decisio

Not worried about a ban, as much as taking away certain features making the phone less desireable. Since they are singleing out Samsung, I thought maybe I should consider another brand. I know there is no way for them to bann what has been sold from being used. They can only collect punitive damages on those.

But that's the beauty of Android... if they remove features via patches.... root and load a different version! I haven't even rooted my S3 yet because I am quite content with the stock OS but my Epic had at least 20 different versions of Android on it before I upgraded... Love this platform!

Get the S3 if you want it or wait it out. I would suspect little impact to an existing device that is on the market.

Yeah I wouldn't worry about the SIII. Apple added it to the list but I doubt the court will approve the ban. Samsung has worked around a lot of the "issues" that the other older phones were supposedly infringing upon.

Even by some miracle the SIII does get banned this thing will drag on in the courts for a long time. Samsung has sold millons of SIII's, so I doubt they would suddenly walk away from it if it gets banned here in the U.S.

Deep pockets or not even Apple doesn't want to keep paying high priced lawyers who bill them for every little thing. At some point the two companies will have to sit down and hash some sort of licensing deal. There's just too much money at stake.

The real reason Apple keeps filing these lawsuits is that Samsung is THE #1 manufacturer in the world. Apple has always been extremely litigious. They sue EVERYBODY! Most of their suits are thrown out...but even a blind dog finds a bone once in a while. They have more money than God, so they can afford it. Too bad Palm didn't have that kind of money when Apple blatantly stole from them. Apple would have been sucking hind tit.

Anyway, the greatest thing about Android is that there's always a workaround. You won't lose. You'll absolutely gain from owning an Android device. Period!
