I am returning my HTC One (M8). Are you?

Re: I am returning my M8. Are you?

Wow you're the second guy that's returned due to the size. Is it that big ?

I was about to buy it... went to the store and changed my mind... it was just way too small for may taste. (last phone was Note II and current phone is Note 3) :)

Wasn't me, thank HTC.
I just took the pictures, sorry but what you see is what you get. Love it or hate it, makes no difference to me.

Based on your pictures, I absolutely know the M8's minor tradeoff, if it is indeed a tradeoff, is well worth it in exchange for having a display that is more vibrant and more color accurate, better color temperature, better viewing angles and superior brightness. Not to mention a battery life that blows away the M7.

Thanks for showing us what we are giving up. ::)

I think you're wrong. The screen area is larger than the M7. This phone has a usable screen area of 5 inches.

If I wanted a killer phone with a bad camera I would still have my moto x for less than half the price.

Why do people keep saying that? The full screen is usable. The onscreen buttons hide when playing videos and such.

Well its not going backward by any means, at worst its sideways

That would be a big deal.

The design isn't perfect no matter how much people want it to be.
And I sooo wanted it to be.

The ONLY things mp are great for are large prints, crops, details when zooming or pixel peeping.
And that's a big deal. Without physical zoom, cropping becomes important.

The reason why I gave up on HTC is because Apple (with the help of the US government) strong-armed them into some shady deal.
Now, with every HTC mobile sold, an undisclosed (but certainly not insignificant) amount of money goes to the patent trolling fruit company.
Wow. Ridiculous.

If you consistently have to crop images you aren't taking the pictures properly. Cell phone or not......

OK, say what you will, but if I zoom or crop the images are soft. I'm talking about taking a picture of my kid from across a basketball court. With no zoom or crop, he's barely visible. With zoom or crop the photo is soft.

I'm not a professional photographer, but one shouldn't have to be with a phone camera. One thing I will say for the One's camera, it's made me become MUCH more familiar with my DSLR and use it more frequently.

RE: screen size, I've just come from a Note2 that was just a little bit to big to use with one hand and that makes the M8 a huge improvement.
If people have very small hands there are still plenty of devices out there with small screens that will fit better.
Are any of the small screens on the Android flagship phones... no.
But thems the breaks.
Android flagship phone or small phone but not both.

RE: Camera.
People seem to think HTC said ah we could give people a decent camera with high pixel count, excellent low light performance and really fast focussing with the ability to record depth information - but we hate our customers so we'll release a gimped camera instead (they must hate their customers.)

But the truth is you can't have all the technologies in current hardware.
As with everything the camera is a compromise, HTC decided that the duo stuff and low light performance outweighed the need for lots of pixels.
It's not a secret and it wasn't done because HTC hate their customers, it was a design decision made because of current smartphone technology and people have to decide what they want from a camera.

Returned it after one day. My problem is that I have an Iphone 5S and wanted this as a second phone. I think it is a GREAT phone, however it is just too heavy and big for me. For someone used to large phones that weigh around 160 grams or more, they will really like it. Just not for me.

You want speakers, on screen buttons, screen size, and all in small package :)

I personally think those speakers need to be redesigned or eliminated. I bet saving some space will also eliminate that stupid HTC logo.

I found the camera to entirely adequate. I think HTC is on the right track; they just picked the wrong mega pixel count. If they took the same approach with an 8 mega pixel sensor and added back the optical image stabilization then they would be on to something. Posted via Android Central App

I don't get it........You found the camera adequate but you think they need a higher megapixel count? What is wrong with the camera that more megapixels would help? The only thing more megapixels would help with is graininess. Is there too much graininess in the photos?

One of my first cell phones was a bag phone for my car. How does this compare size wise? J/K. How does this phone compare size wise to the DNA?

I don't care what kind of phone you have, that's not how I judge someone's worth or intelligence.

Better photo of M8 and Note 3 than what is posted on first page of this thread.

It's virtually the same width and thickness as the DNA, and a bit under 1/4" (5mm) taller.

Oh, hey....just checked and although the M8 is 5 mm taller than the DNA, it's only 1 mm taller than the Butterfly S - which is essentially the DNA with dual speakers.
