Hey everyone,

I am possibly trading a person for there galaxy nexus. I have a iphone 4s. My biggest concearn is i just purchased the 4s around two months ago and i am not sure how Verizon works but I would THINK if I broke my phone or something within a year they would replace it but if I exchange it for this Galaxy Nexus I will have to way to protect it for the next two years (untill my contract is up) correct? If my iphone 4s is off warranty and I am mistaking and both phones are the same, then I wont really worry. Is there anything else I should check into, think about? Thanks for the help!

No one can help me out :'(

I have no idea how this works. Onbiously if the gnex breaks the manufacturer warranty isnt going to help you. Verizon offers Asuron (spelling?) insurance with their plans and you can get a replacement phone for 100 bucks, but you would have to talk to someone who works for verizon and ask tehm if that would be abailable to you with a device you didnt buy from them.

I don't know if u paid the full price for the Iphone 4s or paid the reduced new contract price. If u paid the reduced price you have to understand that there is a loan attached to ur account/device and to transfer the device the other person has to be approved to take over the loan. In reality if u pay the reduced price for ur phone with a 2yr contract u own the device just as much as u own a car with a lean on it. Hence the early cancellation fee also within the 2yr contracts.

I have never heard of the other person has to be approved? I am def not saying your wrong just have never heard of that. So all of the people selling iphone 4s, galaxy nexus etc on ebay are selling illegally? I always just thought it was your contract your paying for that you cant opt out of the contract within 2 years not the phone.

I do not think that is right. You can trade phones. I've traded phones before on contract. Never had someone approve it for me.

And to OP, some things that happen to the phone, the one year warranty covers it. If you traded, it wouldn't. I believe the only thing warranty doesn't cover is physical damage. Anything else they replace.

No their not selling them illegally but alot are sold then after they ship them they cancel their contract making the phone unusable to the buyer because the carrier locks it. But most are just selling the device to be able to pay the early termination fee so they can get a new device without breaking the bank. An others are the few that paid full price and don't mind losing some money to have a new phone every 6 months to a year.

Verizon is requiring my wife to pay a $125 deposit for me to transfer my G-nex to her name because she has real bad credit. If you read your contract it states there are financing charges being paid per month. Now with a trade between 2 customers the credit lines are already secured. Making the exchange of the loans near unnoticeable.

That certainly makes sense then. Thanks for clarifying. You really do learn something new everyday.
