I am unable to receive SMS messages from one contact. MMS come through fine.

Since I switched to the Note8 on Tmobile I have been unable to receive messages from my brother who is on Verizon. This was never an issue before. I only receive MMS from him which means I do not see his messages unless they are group messages or marked "urgent". Any ideas?
