I can't take it anymore, I'm going to go back to the Pixel 2 XL

I think it self heals because it's got a bit of a memory to it. It scratches easily with my finger nail but disappears after awhile. Cheaper than Zagg and lifetime warranty. Not quite as smooth as glass but feels good. I feel like I half to clean the screen more often but not a problem
Maybe.. but there are polymers that will sort of pull back on itself and restick together. It's probably why the plastic feels a little softer than other plastic protectors I've owned.

I ordered a couple packs of IQ Shield protectors while watching the ACC Championship Game. Should be at my hotel on Tuesday. The Zagg was perfectly installed by the best buy employee save for a few specks. Normally, it would annoy me and I'd rip the thing off but I'm actually pretty cool with it. I'll install an IQ Shield eventually.

And like you guys, I typically don't need tempered glass. Just started getting them at some point and never stopped lol

How are you liking the phone after the first couple of days?

I'm liking it just fine. The blue shift is there but I don't care. Haven't seen any burn-in but I don't study how to find it. I was using "Natural" color profile on my Pixel 2 so I'm good there also.

Great phone, so pleased to hear that you like it too! I've had numerous phones over the last few years and I've started them up and checked them and they all have some kind of colour shift which until now I've never noticed. I saw a bit of blue on first boot up but have never noticed it since. This really is a class machine

Ahhh just leaving the post office sending the Pixel 2 back to Google! The XL will be 2/3 paid for tomorrow. All is right with the world. Lol

Got my Pixel 2 XL delivered!

I've set it up and re-installed all my apps - I'm so, so, so happy to be back on the Pixel again. UI is gorgeous - clean, not cluttered with stuff. Again, I have to say, this is the fastest phone I've used. Super smooth and consistent, scrolling is extremely fast and fluid. Once you're used to this level of speed, I found it hard to go to something that wasn't at this level. These two things (UI design and speed) are the two things that I couldn't get used to on the Note 8. And the screen on my 2 XL looks fine. Both of the phones in front of me with the Pixel 2 XL on 'saturated' colour mode - there's really not that much of a difference between the two. Wouldn't say one is 'better' than the other. Maybe in tests and specific circumstances the Note 8 screen is superior, but in the hand using the P2XL, the screen looks great.

While the Pixel 2 XL certainly isn't as pretty as the Note 8, I do like the coating on the body to give it that extra grip. Feels more secure in the hand and I'm less worried about dropping it. Still think Google need to up their game in hardware design next year. Don't like how the 2 and 2 XL have different designs.

This all sounds silly because I've already had the Pixel 2 XL before, but now it's like a re-awakening. I've come to appreciate it much more now that what I want out of a phone it does, and does it extremely well.

Here is the thing. Dongles are just inconvenient. You can't have the device charging and listen to music at the same time. This is not needed every day but is important on day a road trip or a long flight.
Wireless headphones have their own issues. Personally i have multiple devices i don't get to set there order in which my wireless headphones pair. Sometimes it gets confused and pairs to two devices at the same time but doesnt play the audio of the one i a currently using. The worst one is going out with dead headphones.

Do far i think google is the only one to make a headphone dongle that works with multiple devices. Htc, Motorola, apple all have proprietary headphone dongles. Therefore multiple phones require multiple dongles.

Can I ask why you can't switch to a Bluetooth headphone while charging your phone, then reconnect your dongle when ready? Assuredly, it's not as convenient, but there are many of us who consider wires just as inconvenient. Ever been on a treadmill, connected with a wire and turn too quick and smash your phone ? Have you ever witnessed it. IMHO, it's pretty inconvenient to deal with a broken phone. Honestly, how much have you adjusted around your wires to make them convenient? All of that goes away with Bluetooth. And, Bluetooth is pretty damn good now. I stopped with the hassle of wires as soon as Bluetooth became a thing and I haven't looked back. I have never considered a mobile device to be the Pinnacle of audiophile listening anyway. But, it's getting real close.

Thank you for your review! So glad you are enjoying your Pixel 2 XL! And I know what you mean - after being away from it for a while, you've developed a new appreciation for it. :)

Congrats and welcome back. Best phone on the market today.

My main issue with Bluetooth headphones is stated in my second paragraph. Its not that i dont have any or that they dont have their benefits. I am still waiting to find a pair of Bluetooth headphones that are as good as my in-ears that i have owned for years

Ok, I get it. You may be waiting awhile until BT 5.0 hits more headsets. I do use Sennheiser momentum 2 on ear wireless, and the sound is excellent.

Nice pair of cans. I personally dont like carrying over rest headphones while I'm out and about so i normally carry my trusty bose soundsport wired and its wireless eqivalent, the soundsport wireless. For in-ears, i usually stick with bose for their fit. For over ears i have the vmoda crossfade wireless 1 which are mainly used wired anyway

Depending on what you're used to in wired, you may be waiting for additional evolution. My preference is IEM, and the best I've heard by far are Klipsch X12 using balanced armature drivers, but they aren't for the budget-minded. Neckband style, very comfortable to wear and easily the most comfortable earbuds I've used, with a rated 18-hour battery life that seems to be pretty honest.

My Budget for headphones masses out at like $400. At that point it be built to last for years and sound great.

That's right where these generally sell ($399). You can occasionally find them for less, but usually those are not authorized dealers, so no warranty - simply put, not worth the risk... They have been on sale a few times over the past year (not just on Black Friday) for as low as around $320. The only negative I have on them other than that I'd like them to be less expensive is that the microphone for phone calls isn't that great. It works fine, but not as well as it should for such a high ticket item.

My experience was pretty much the same with the Note 8 and one member in particular thought I was a lunatic for saying the Note lagged. It's subtle, but it definitely stutters compared to the Pixel 2, OG Pixel or really any iPhone since the 6S. I like the Pixel 2 quite a bit, actually the OG Pixel was my favorite phone last year despite me using an iPhone 7 Plus most of the year. I had an iPhone X since launch and bounce back and forth between them but am now going all in on Pixel. Still getting used to it though.
