i cant transfer files from my tab2 GT-P3100 to my pc

my tab is well connected but as i start file transfer it shows "device not functioning"..please tell me what to do

Welcome to Android Central! You're connected via USB, correct? Are you able to explore the tablet's directories using Windows Explorer on the PC? What version of Windows is the PC running? Have you tried different cables? Are you using one of the main USB ports on the computer, or a hub? Avoid using hubs if you can.
