I damaged my S8 display

Hi,

I have galaxy S8, and last week while I was sitting in nature, phone sliped from my pocket and lend on only stone in radius of 200m, directly on display.

Now I have small dot/crack on my display which is really small and visible only in some viewing angel. I am not sure if that crack could have additional consequences on phone, such as waterproofnes or something. If you ask me it is now only cosmetic problem but I would not like to damage my phone further.

I also contacted official Samsung repair center and they told me that repair would cost me 250+€. It is lot of money but what can I do. But I would not repair it if you thing that this damage is not worth repairing and can't do any additional harm to phone.

I ordered Spigen neoflex screen protector which I will apply in order to prevent such stupid damages again and maybe prevent spreading of current crack.

So would you repair this right away or would you leav it as it is and repair it only if crack spreads. Maybe it will and maybe it never spread and increas from current size. This only if you think that waterproofnes is intact or no additional damage is possible from this.

If it were me, I would repair it only for the fact that I wouldn't want to have a new phone that's cracked - if it were a phone from last year, I'd say screw it, but it would bother me to have a new phone with a cracked display, but that's just me. If you could find the money to fix it, I say go for it, but if you find that the screen is working fine even with the crack (no touchscreen issues, etc), then leave it as is until you can fund the cost of repair. In the end, it all depends on you.

Personally I would get it fixed because it could cause possibly more expensive damage later on. Or if you ever want to trade it in you'll have to fix it anyway.

It doesn't look cracked at all. I would say just leave it. $250 is a lot for just that, maybe a crack or something but I vote no fix, keep it like it is.

Thank you all for your answers. Right now I am not in hurry to fix it. It really doesn't bother me except I am little worry that small dot could make more damage somehow.

This is what is worring me too and why I consider fixing display without waiting. But could you or someone else tell me what (and how) current screen damage could make more damage to other componets?

The only thing that crosses my mind is that I am not sure if my phone is waterproof now on that spot where the screen is cracked.

Just because of this I feel uneasy but also spending 250euro on fixing only cosmetic problem is also making me unesy too

P.S.
After the phone is serviced is it still watreproof after that and do service guaranty you that? I am just not sure how they open this phone and how do they put it back again

Umm, damage is cosmetic only. Has no impact on water proof, it is not likely to get bigger, and it won't become more expensive to repair because the $250 is to replace the whole screen.

I had my screen replaced at best buy for about 200 bucks or so
