I'm so tired of fighting this system just to try and change my avatar. It's been easy on other forums on my windows pc, but it seems absolutely impossible here.

Could someone tell me where and how to get images, and how to size them if needed and actually get this site to save them?

I'm accessing the site through the chrome browser on my Android tablet. I understand now why some long standing members are still using the default avatar :-\

First, are you able to get to the Edit Avatar option in your settings on the forum website? Click the gear icon next to your inbox and find it there. You should see your Passport profile show up, with your avatar there and a Change Avatar option. If you tap Change Avatar, do you see a window with a Select Photo to Upload option?

Or is the problem that you get there, but the site doesn't allow you to upload a photo?

I can get there.. and I can put an image I downloaded from the web in the box, but then I'm left with the box and no options, just the X at the top right, or hit the back button. No option to save that I can see, or resize or anything else. Where do you get your images from B?

I set all my forum accounts up on my windows pc, avatars and everything, except for this one. I've never tried to add an image to anything on Android. On my pc I was able to grab images off the web, resize them and change them no problem. But Android is definitely not windows lol.

I just get my images from doing a Google search. Are you using jpg or png files? See if the file format makes a difference.

On my screen, I see a "Select a Photo to Upload" button in the middle of the window, and once I choose an image, I see a Save Avatar button at the lower right.

I will try the different file types. So you long press the Google image you want and select download, and download it in chrome? Do you look for a certain size file or just grab an image you like? Does the site here restrict some images because of size or copyright? I'm not getting the save avatar button, so I'm assuming the images aren't meeting the site requirements.

Thanks for the help, this has been pretty frustrating :-\

So I just changed my avatar using the Chrome for Android interface on my Pixel 6 Pro. I did a Google search for Tom Servo (also from Mystery Science Theater), long-pressed the image I wanted, then Download Image (it's a .jpeg file). In the Edit Avatar option in the Passport Profile page, I uploaded that image, then tapped Save Avatar. You can see right now my avatar is different. Be aware that you might not see the change immediately on the mobile browser -- I went to my Chromebook browser and saw the change immediately there.

I think it says 500 x 500 images are ideal -- anything bigger will probably look too zoomed in. It won't automatically resize for you, so you'd probably have to use an app to resize the image (like Snapseed).

Okay B wish me luck, I'm going in :p

Success!!! Finally :D I learned something that will help everyone trying to change their avatar on an Android tablet. My tablet, like most I believe, defaults to landscape view, and the site wouldn't display that particular page in landscape properly, so I couldn't access the save avatar button till I rotated into portrait mode. I guess it's either an Android bug, or the site expects you to access that page from the typical phone view.

So all you tablet guys, change your avatar in portrait mode ;) And B thanks again for the help :D

One more question, how do I delete an avatar image out of the 8 I'm allowed, when I no longer want to use it? I have 3 duplicates I'd like to remove.

To delete an image, first select it so that it appears in the main window, and then tap the garbage can delete icon.
