Last Sunday, the screen cracked on my phone. I contacted the insurance company and got my replacement phone today. After paying $100, a lot of money for an old phone, I did not want to pay the Verizon Store to transfer my old data to the new phone.

So, I tore the phone apart and now I think I've pretty much ruined any chance I have of getting my old data off of it. The only thing I really care about are my photos, I have about 300 of them and would really really like them back.

I've got a couple of questions, which chip is the actual internal memory of the phone? The small microSD sized Samsung chip or the the larger Hynix chip with the eNAND markings?

I slipped with a screwdriver and actually damaged the Samsung chip. It's off of the motherboard but should be able to have data recovered by a professional. The larger chip is still on the memory board and I would assume soldered in just like the Samsung one. How would I go about removing it from the motherboard without damaging it?

And yes, I know, I'm an idiot and in the future, one I will backup my photos at the very least daily and two just bring the phone into the Verizon Store if this happens again.

DAMN MAN!!!! HOW'D YOU GET THE BEANS ABOVE THE FRANKS!!???

I'm sorry I'm not much help here but I'm not really sure how to respond. What the h-e-double hockey sticks were you doing with a screwdriver in such a sensitive area?

I'm not trying to judge here but perhaps you shouldn't be playing surgeon. I know you know that now but seriously, take it to a professional, let them try and salvage what they can. Question, are the pictures worth all that...I mean, are they of your first childs birth or something or you wedding, cause it seems like a lot of trouble for some pictures.

How can you do this? You have a micro SD card from your original phone. Right? Inserting that if your pics were are in will then be on your replacement phone.
Having Gmail gets things transferred. Also Verizon backup assistant. I don't know of a corporate store charging to transfer. They don't in Arizona but the indirect retailers will.
I can't believe you did this
Check to see if there is Gotronics in your mall. They repair phones

Have you tried putting everything back together and firing it up? If it will boot then connecting it to the PC with a USB should allow you to see the internal memory (assuming the chip is not damaged).

It's worth a shot.

Your title says it all... Anyways..

The internal emmc storage is the Samsung chip - eNAND is the ROM.

Are you 100% sure that pictures were saved internally, vs. on your memory card?

Let's give him a break. There are times when a man has a screwdriver, and he just has to stick into something. This must've been one of those moments. :D

On the bright side... it could have been worse...
