People in areas where there are no apple stores and don't want to wait 2-3 weeks for online orders to get shipped.

Its not that outrageous.. simple supply vs. demand..

yep, every device launch this happens on ebay. there are usually not enough devices at launch to meet the demand of the consumers...so rather than wait a few days or weeks to get something, people with money to burn will pay 1.5x-2x retail to get it faster. Same concept as scalping sports or concert tickets really.
