I don't get email notifications

I don't know if this is a marshmallow problem or if it is a user problem, but I don't get my email notifications in the notification bar. I get everything else but not the emails also I have made sure that everything that should be checked and turned on is done. So if anyone can help that would be great thank you.

Do you get the notification number next to your email app?

No I don't, but I forgot to mention that I have two emails that I use.
