I dont know if its just me or does anyone else feels this way. I feel like Im missing something with this phone or missing out on something by not getting the Samsung Galaxy S4. HTC kind of scare me with thier devices because they come out so quick and they leave the last one behind and focuse on the new one. I have been using a Samsung phone and a iphone for a long time. I must say I do like this phone alot but I just feel like im missing something by now getting the S4. will the the HTC One loose its steam in a couple of weeks ? nobody knows but I do know the S4 will be around for a long time. just my 2 cents.

As someone who's been unsatisfied with htc in the past for a lot of those same reasons I don't see them making the exact same mistakes. I'm not saying htc will be perfect but I do think they'll make a good effort at supporting the one.

I dont think HTC moves to the next device any faster than anyone else. This is their flagship for this year so I expect nothing more than the normal until next year's device comes. I do believe this device is supposed to get KLP as well. So I wouldn't worry about that. But it appears you are worried more about the hype than anything. I know how you feel though. It's the same with iPhone. It's like you know it's not really that much better than last but you don't want to feel like you've missed out. I get that. I will say though if you feel the itch to try the S4 go for it. I try everything and don't have an alliegiance so do what you think is best for you. I actually played around with the S4 and I was more bored than anything. Being like you using mostly an S3 and iPhone last year, I just did t feel anything with the S4 to make me give up the one. But hey, it may be different for you. Good luck with whatever you decide.

HTC definitely has a history of cranking out new phones instead of supporting the old ones. And it looks more like we won't even see klp at Google io anyways.

Yeah but KLP not coming would be due to Google not HTC. Typically the new OS comes out with a new device. Last year it was 4.1 with the nexus 7. So if Google doesbt release it until the next nexus then nothing to be disappointed about. I'll be disappointed if it gets released and with don't get it at all. But can't help if Google wants to hold off.

Also, again what I'm saying is I don't think it's any faster than anyone else. I mean the one x has gotten jelly bean 4.1.... The same one we have on the one lol. Samsung does the same thing and they put out even more devices per year. So comparatively speaking I'm not worried. That's just really how it is with these devices nowadays. I wish it weren't like that though. Apple devices are the only ones that get true supports for years after release.

Ok I feel what everyone is saying and everyone have some good points. I just dont want to get burnt with a device and be stuck with it for awhile.

Yeah I know how you feel and I agree. It's unfortunate that these companies have to move on so quickly to keep up with the others. I do expect this device to at least get KLP sometime after it's out. I mean I never stick with a device long enough to think about these things but I understand your concern. Good luck.

Obviously it's not the one's fault if klp doesn't happen and I never implied it was (I do know someone who will probably blame Samsung for it but he won't mention that anymore)

And there's a lot more to supporting a device than just giving it an android update.

I think you need to ignore these forums for a week and just enjoy your phone, if at the end of this week you still have doubts get a s4!

I agree but like I said I don't think they do it any MORE than any other android manufacturer. I'm not saying they don't I'm just saying it's the same across the bored nowadays. And you brought up KLP as of it not coming out next month was a HTC specific thing. But I digress. I've already said my thoughts and I respect yours as well.

Pretty much how this works is as follows:
Company puts out an awesome new phone - we all want shiny new phone - lots of people get shiny new phone - everyone raves about this awesome phone - another company puts out shinier newer phone with updated features and maybe new version of android - all the people who burned their upgrades on the first phone are jealous and disapointed their phone won't be supported with newer features

Then Verizon puts out the phone we were discussing at the beginning of the this post.

Unless somehow HTC folds I don't think you have to much to worry about. This isn't the old HTC that released 20 different phones in a year HTC has the one flagship model now all models use the same hardware minus the radio my thought is that it will be a lot easier for them to keep one model up to date. And if they don't HTC offers an awesome unlock utility so you can load custom roms to keep this beast going.
