I feel really bad

Just hit the volume up or down button and tap on the bell icon to the left of the slider. That will toggle between sound and vibrate.

I like the Pixel Xl, just activated this afternoon, fine. It has some glaring lacks--AOD and that slide motion to take a screenshot, which so far doesn't work and isn't in any settings on it I can find, both of which I miss badly, but I'd be lying if I said I loved it the way I loved my Note 7. I may eventually come to love it, I will sure have it for the two years it'll take to pay it off after all the expenses on gear for the Note, much of which I couldn't get a refund on. But the thing is, I am ok with just liking the Pixel. The Note was like a lover, the Pixel's like the guy you finally marry ( or at least move in with and have a kid with). And I am so not sorry to be eyeing my phone and wondering when it might decide to have a meltdown.

Good point! Thanks for the reminder. I actually did that once or twice the other day, then forgot that it was an option.

This way is better than nothing, but IMO still weird to be left out of the Quick Toggles. I don't really use Silent mode, but if one wanted to, you can't enact it by the method you mentioned. The Galaxy phones have the 3 options right from the Quick Toggles where it should be IMO. It's a very small thing overall still.

Oh, I agree. I would much rather have a quick setting, too.

Why did you choose the Pixel XL over a different Samsung phone to replace the Note 7?

I didn't like the more extreme edges of the 7 edge, the s7 is too small for me, the Note 5 has only 64 gb and no sd card. I got a 128 gb Pixel XL, Almost went for the LG V20 but I don't trust LG's builds. Too many of their phones have had that boot loop problem. My LG G3 had cracks around the microphone by week 2, a common problem with that model, never could connect properly to my wi-fi, also common, and had terrible call quality, If I am honest I would say I didn't want another Samsung right now because I am mad at them, though the reasons to reject the individual phones I mentioned are all valid, too.

I miss the Stylus and Smart Select.... I used that all the time. I haven't even figured out how to take a Screen shot on the pixel yet

- I miss the Wireless Charging big time from the N7

Google abandoned this after the N5 and I still wonder why. They also could have took the double tap feature from their N9 tablet to wake up the screen. Would have made the FPS being on the back less of an issue.

Chillen on my note 7 now, waiting on my preorder pixel xl till november. I hope the display is at least comparable. N7 screen is best I've ever had.

Soooo... you have a ticking time bomb sitting in your corner then? :-P J. K. :-) I would activate it! I'm sure it'll be as good to you as your Samsungs have been :-)

My XL is sitting in the counter and I can't bring myself to activate it. I love my note 7 and don't have the return box yet. It figures I would be happy to wait on backorder but got it on day 1.

I feel your pain... I rejoice that my ship date for my pixel xl 128 GB is far, far into the future... I hope I am not going to get mine early. I bought a Note 5, which my husband currently has. When I get the Pixel, I will keep the one that makes me Less UNhappy...

Enjoy your time with your N7... Good times, Good times... Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all!

Sorry for the cross-post - I posted this in the Note 7 forum earlier. I have/had the Note 7 and now have the Pixel XL. These are my initial thoughts on the 2:

- The Pixel is definitely faster, definitely smoother. It's noticeable.
- I miss the home button. I dislike on screen buttons.
- The Pixel camera seems pretty darn great. I don't think low light photos are that different, except for EXTREMELY low light ones. And for those, the N7 lights it up more, but is more grainy for me. And for those really rare instances, I would probably just flip the flash on anyway. The Front Camera seems better to me on the Pixel, the rear cameras are very, very close. I haven't taken enough pics to really tell yet. The fact that the cameras are so close in quality to me is, in itself, a testament to just how good a job Google did with the Pixel camera - because the N7 camera was the best I have ever seen.
- The rear fingerprint sensor on the back works well, is quick and it's consistent. but, being that is is on the back, for me it is sometimes a pain (laying on the desk, etc). But again, it is fast, and it turns the screen on and unlocks with one touch, quickly. Having the ability to pull down the notification shade using a fingerprint sensor swipe is nice too.
- Somehow, amazingly, the Quick Toggles at the top of the Pixel are missing a "Sound" toggle. They finally added the Samsung-like quick toggles (and there are 6 showing at once), and they are customizable. But somehow there is no toggle for "Sound" (Sound, Vibrate, "Silent). Silly little thing, but something I used ALL THE TIME on the N7, and just an astonishing , silly omission. Google is great, but sometimes they leave out the easiest things. You have to actually lower the volume all the way down with the volume button to get it to Vibrate. Welcome to 2010 I guess? :-/
- Nouget 7.1 is great. The whole UI is smooth and buttery on the Pixel XL, and the app shortcuts (3d touch stuff) in 7.1 are super handy. It is IMO excellent software that now seems less boring than it used to be years ago. I still prefer much about Touchwiz, but "stock" has come a long way. The nice bright colors everywhere spruce up the feeling as well. It's really a joy to use. Fast, fast, fast. Opening apps, scrolling, multi-tasking - all of it is just about instant. Kudos to Google for this.
- I love using the Assistant. It has some ways to go yet, but it's pretty great. I use it WAY more than I ever used Google Now.
- I miss the Wireless Charging big time from the N7
- Too early to assess battery, but through almost 2 days it is definitely not worse than the N7, and almost assuredly better. We'll see though over the next week as "normal" usage ensues.
- I like the look and feel of the Pixel. I prefer the N7 looks overall, but the Pixel look and feel is nice IMO. I definitely don't feel like I am gonna drop the Pixel, like I did with the N7.
- No issues with radios. GPS, Bluetooth, Wifi, and LTE all seem great so far, but it is early days.
- The screen on the Pixel is very nice. It's my first non-Galaxy screen in about 3 or 4 years, so I was tentative. It is just a notch below the N7. It's still really nice though, but nothing - and I mean nothing - beats the Galaxy screens IMO. It's preference of course, but for me Samsung is the king of display technology.
- Split screen works great. It doesn't support all apps yet, but many. And so many more will come soon - unlike on Samsung where there seems to be limited , static amount that support split screen.
- After only a month or 2 with the Note 7 AoD, I miss it a lot already after 2 days not having it on the Pixel. All AMOLED phones should have this IMO.

Everyone's experience will differ. For me, I see pros and cons. Overall I am happy after 2 days. Just the sheer speed and snappiness might just make me forget some of the great things I will miss from my N7..
Great and honest review :)

I utilized the spen a lot so I am playing with Google assistant to help do some of the things the pen did. My meme farming is going to be trash without a pen though.

Same here. I wish the Pixel had the sound toggle in the quick settings too. I'm so used to that from my Samsungs. I'm coming from the Note 7, and I never preferred a curved screen. I also didn't use the stylus ever on either my Note 4 or Note 7.

I want to thank everyone for posting their findings. I too loved my note 7 and I am having a hard time finding a replacement. I am currently using LG V20 and I am not a fan. Plus the battery life is atrocious. I ordered the pixel XL yesterday and I am to receive it in late November. Can't wait to compare it.

Why do people like the note7 so much? I've never even considered one

For me, it was mostly for the built in S-Pen that I used for taking notes. It was really useful for productivity. I also liked how the Note 7 took on the edge apps screen and and I also like wireless charging convenience. I'm one of the people that did use the pen. There were some who didn't. However, I have adapted around it by using a generic stylus with notes on the phone I now have which I could have been doing all along-but the S-pen was ten times more precise, as well as integrated with the phone, plus it was built in so that I did not have to worry about losing it.

But it's cool to be reading what phones people are using. I contemplated the Pixel XL myself and it seems like a great choice. I'm happy with the S7 edge for my own reasons (has similarities to the Note 7) but it's good to have choices.

Don't miss samsung pay?? That's the only thing stopping me from moving away from Sammy

omg! i am sooooo with you! Samsung Pay is like crack...Giving it up and ONLY being able to use NFC enabled terminals is UNTHINKABLE for me...lol

IF you have never used it then Android/ApplePay is DEFINITELY "good enough" BUT if you have, going backwards isn't an option....Mayyyybe once NFC is accepted EVERYWHERE, i'll consider it, but for now,
HAVE to have Samsung Pay with MST!
