Re: forgot backup password on note 5

I actually like them. The person could be in a place where you can't connect to the phone or whichever.. Doesn't hurt to have this extra step. This way a thief can't steal and use the phone.

Ok, so let me make sure I understand this correctly. :)

If I lose my Note 5's password and my Gmail passoword, my phone will become a permanent paperweight or coaster?

Guess I better go write down those passwords and keep them in a couple of secured locations. :)

Until you get the password for your Google account yes -- You would have to contact Google and work it. IMO I would rather have security. If you're forgetting your own passwords that is another personal issue you will have to deal with. :).

guess I need to find a more creative password... I now use the 1027th word(spelled in reverse) in the 2004 edition of Webster dictionary as my password. (1027 because 10-27 in my birthday)

Oh I don't get that creative with my phone password lol. I do something I can easily remember but no one would guess.

Re: forgot backup password on note 5

if i don't have internet on my note 5 what can i do for reset my phone if it's locked

I think I figured out how you are able to change your backup password for the Note 5. If you go under lock and security under setting. You'll see at the bottom where it says security. Since you were using your fingerprint go ahead click on fingerprint. After you've scanned in with your fingerprint on the next window you'll see the option to change your backup password. Don't forget to write your new password this time =)

Re: forgot backup password on note 5

I bought thru ebay a Note 5 with a broken lcd, I changed the lcd and it was user locked, I thought a factory reset will fix the problem now I'm stuck on the welcome screen after the factory reset, the technician is telling me that is locked and the "kill switch" is activated, I don't have a way to locate the original owner to get the password, even if I'm able to find him I doubt he would give me his password.
What can I do to use the phone?
