I found out why the battery sucks

I used to get 5h30 average with not so much of usage.
I noticed that if I turn on the Wi-fi it turns off the 3G and I get 12h!
So can anyone tell me how I can turn on and off the 3G manually. I only see this option for 4G. (I wanna be able to have all 3G + 4G + Wifi OFF at the same time)

Cool little widget. This may be helpful on the weekends when I care more about phone calls and SMS than email. My Pre with it's terrible battery life lasted 5 DAYS in airplane mode. What is it with the new phones polling data all day even if you have them set to update email only once an hour? (Like I had on pre)

I always use Wi-Fi when a hotspot is available, especially in areas with low 3G signal. This really saves power, but only if you're connected to a hotspot. Leaving Wi-Fi on all the time when you're not connected is a drain.

I use Juice Defender when I need my battery to last. It turns the 3G radio off and activates it for one minute every 15 minutes to poll data. This is a "best of both worlds" solution that I find useful.

And it allows phone calls and SMS to still come through full time, which Airplane Mode does not.

So far, I like this app. Been using it for about 3 hours now and only lost 1% battery while in idle. Before this, I was losing at least 5% in idle over the same time period. Very useful for when I'm sitting in front of a computer and don't need the data running.

1x should be able to handle emails as well. No 3g? No problem

EDIT: Hold on, does the Epic support the 1x network? I've never seen it in 1x.

Yep, and that's just it. A software update will do. Is anyone here familiar with the first iPhone battery issues? Apparently, it was horrid on 2g, but Apple actually made the battery much better after a few software updates.

It makes a widget that looks like the Stock Power control, but is completely customizable!!

You can add Flashlight (works!!), 4g, 3g, SD Scan, Orientation, Battery info, and more to the widget!


People have stated that 3G is the *main* power drain, but I refuse to turn if off unless i HAVE too. I tend to keep my 3G instead of Wifi these days because the coverage is so good in my house.
