I got a new Samsung Galaxy S4 and I don't know how to sync my contacts?

i got a new samsung galaxy s4 and i dont know how to sync my contacts

I have a google account that had all my contacts backed up onto it and put it into the phone but for some reason none of my contacts from my old phone show up.
Please help!
