I got my replacement Nexus 5 and...

Check the bottom of the box. It'll be the first 3 numbers beside S/N

I looked at the "about phone" section on my phone and the first three numbers for my sn are 039... any idea what that means (if it makes a difference I bought mine at a sprint store the day it Launched for Sprint)

The 'About Phone' s/n is different than the one on the box.

I had the rattling power button issue on my 311K version and requested an RMA on Dec 17. The 311K version replaced my first 310K version as that phone had the so called dim yellow tinted display that looked awful compared to my N4 in terms of whites. Received replacement phone yesterday and to my surprise it was a 310K version. Comparing them side by side, it is obvious that the 311K version has the slightly larger speaker holes and buttons. Funny enough, even with the smaller speaker holes and thinner buttons, the 310K version has slightly louder volume output (trivial) and the power button feels better attached to phone and has a more solid click to it when pressed. Also, I find that the 310K version has a less sharp bottom edge where the glass meets the bottom bezel when you slide your finger across it. That being said, I do not think there is any difference in performance attained from the button sizes and speaker holes. The rattling button issue is probably related to how meticulous the person putting them on the phone was. The speaker hole size really doesn't make any difference for volume loudness especially since the 4.4.2 update.

Suggest you all check your phone's hardware version instead of fretting over serial numbers.

Turn phone on, then long-press power button until menu appears. Tap Power Off.

Simultaneously press and hold both volume down and power buttons for a few seconds. Boot screen will appear. What is listed for "HW VERSION"? Mine is rev_11.

Press the power button to boot the phone normally. DO NOT play with the volume buttons unless you want to risk accidentally wiping your phone.

Can you tell me how you got them to replace the phone? they said they will not unless it is stopping the fuctioning of the phone?? I bought three of these phones 2x16 and 1x32) and the rattle drives me nuts!

1. Take your email down. We can handle everything on the forums directly and it's not a good idea posting your email on the Internet.

2. Just call back again. Be polite and explain that the rattling is way too loud and you worry that there may be something really wrong with it. If it rattles when you tap the screen then that is a defect they should take care of. Doubt that you'll get a second negative response as they have been good to me every time I have called.

Hello from T?rkiye. I'm so confused. Which one serial number should I buy now? Thanks for your answers.

Doesn't really matter. Each has pros and cons plus the serial numbers aren't 100% accurate when trying to figure out what revision you are getting.

They say 14 days but people have reported they release holds before they even get the package.
