I got the M8 for the front speakers!

The problem is, I don't think that the fitness device will be successful. The VR device has also no future, so I don't know why HTC is investing in these areas. What is the main advantage of using the HTC fitness tracker that other products do not already have? What about the VR headset? There are so many VR products out there (and none of them is really successful), that I don't see how HTC can differentiate.
I wish HTC the best, I really like their designs, but I am afraid this is going to be a really difficult year.

I read on another post that Samsung S6 will be using Wolfson DAC in their phones as opposed to the Qualcomm DAC that HTC utilise for sound. I wonder if this will mean Samsung S6 will have better audio than M9, especially for headphone usage? Looking forward to seeing the detailed audio head to head stats from gsmarena.com (and other sites) regarding this issue for us crazy audiophiles 😁

Yeah, from the presentation I watched it seemed like they didn't spend enough time on the M9. They had too many other projects going on which took time and resources away from putting out the best flagship in 2015. But then again, after winning awards for the M7/M8 they probably got a little big headed.

What I don't understand is they came out with the EVO 4G. The next year they came out with the EVO 3D. Talking about a completely different design and concept for a phone. I am not accustomed to them repeating the same designs.

I know when I see people using their phones for media, they mostly just use headphones. That kinda negates the need for great speakers. I rarely ever use the speakers on my phone so to me it's not a selling point at all. Camera on the other hand is something that I use all of the time. It'll be interesting to see how the M9 camera is once they've actually got the firmware it's shipping with on it.

Completely agree.

I use my phone for media consumption, playing games and music. I also take pictures with my M8, and even dough the camera setup is not the greatest, it is good enough to look at on my phone or to post to social media.
People are forgetting the fact that you can't use a smartphone to take great pictures. I agree. Some might be better than others, but if people are going to complain about camera performance on a smartphone, they should consider DSLR. It's all about the lens!!....Even a 6MP DLSR will blow away any smartphone camera.

HTC phones have great sound, there's absolutely no doubt about that. Whether it comes to speaker or headphones, the M8 is excellent, however I would argue that camera is a more 'important' feature for a phone to have.

But if speakers and headphone volume/quality are important to you, then the M9 will be excellent, no doubt.
