Android Central Question

I would like to root this device and upgrade to a later version of Android but I don't know how to do it. Everything I've found online is related to upgrading phones. Can someone help?

With that amount of storage is just not really worth it. Combine that with the fact that you'll need to find a ROM that is at least on 4.4 in order to have any kind of decent app support and you're looking at needing to just replace the device. Even the $100 onn tablet that Walmart sells would probably be a better experience since it's more modern, but they also have some inexpensive Samsung tablets.

Welcome to Android Central! I moved this to the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 forum for more specific traffic.

You would find that later versions of Android would pretty much overwhelm your available space on the tablet and make it next to, if not completely. unusable. I had an 8 gig LG F pad that I loathe for that very reason. It is from roughly the same generation. It's also why I was glad to get away from 16 gig devices like the one in forced to use in the interim, while I'm recovering from major illness. I have a Samsung J2 Core with 2 gig of RAM, and in order to keep it running decently, minimal apps and multiple daily memory clearances are required.

You be better off selling or donating it and pick up something more current.
