I have a Droid X with 2.2

Tech support is sending me a "like-new" X today, and he said that it would probably have 2.2 on it. He said that 2.2 was being slowly released NOW, and that he had talked to a few people yesterday and today that had received the update already.

That is the longest paragraph in human history.. failed second grade where they made us split up thoughts into paragraphs, did we?

You don't have 2.2 from Verizon. If so, you'd be the first; and only, person with it.

Why call the person a liar? Call VZW tech support before you call someone out. 2.2 is being sent out as we speak (per VZW tech support). Read my other post.

Tell us that when you actually receive it. Because at this point I am pretty most of us are sure that the rep is lying to you.

I went to a verizon store and checked to see what the floor models had on them one actually had 2.2 and the other showed up on the check for updates so I called tech support and asked why the x in the store had the 2.2 they said it is being pushed as we speak the store is in knoxville tn

Just spoke to Donna at Motorola tech support. She verified that 2.2 has been rolled out for Droid X!
Told me to keep checking my phone, as she couldn't give me a date for my specific phone, but it has been released.

Kids kids, The Reps with VZW or MOTO aren't lying!

They're just stupid!

They cannot help it!

2.2 isn't being rolled out today. They aren't sending out new devices with 2.2.....or even refurbs with 2.2

If that was the case, all the sad little nerds who sit around these forums all day staring at their phone (myself included), would spread the ACTUAL FACT of that happening like wildfire.

Bottom line?

VZW and Moto reps you talk to don't know crap. They get paid minimum wage to sit and answer phone calls from pissed off customers.

Many of you are fresh faces, but we've gone through this before with the Droid.

With the 2.1 AND 2.2 updates for it. VZW support on the phone had many responses to those rollouts:

Yes, its out now.
Yes, its being rolled out this week.
What is 2.2?

So sit back, relax, and wait. Because we won't know anything REAL until it ACTUALLY happens.

When I got my x on launch he told me 2.2 would be out by end of that month. I told him I would miss 2.2 on my droid and he was amazed at how I had 2.2 on my droid already. They don't know much. Its a job for them not a life style. We live and breath android everyday and know more than they do.

I got my replacement DX las month with 3.0 and a slide out keyboard and a front facing camera and 4g and a.... some other stuff that the DX's DONT COME WITH!

sweet i heard the replacement X's also come with hookers and a new corvette lol:p

look as far as im concerned the OP doesn't have 2.2 unless it was a non wiped device. My main reason for thinking this is there was no reason that he would say this without providing screen shots or vids. these forums and tech sites know about devices before they are announced. Some even buy lost prototypes lol so yea if official OTA 2.2 was close to legit it would be on the home page.

Just curious; is it possible that 2.2 is not all that? I had a D2 before I switched to the DX and it lagged. It took multiple "pushes" on icons and the home buttons. It seemed to take forever to get the camera come on (compared to my DX)
I thought it might be the phone but decided that the size of the DX suited me better so I never gave it a second thought. Since owning the DX I do not experience any of the lag that I did with the D2.

I went into VZ today to check on an extended battery and as usual had to "check in" and wait....I went over and played with the D2 on display and once again it lagged...a lot.
Any thoughts? Could it be the hardware or maybe 2.2 is not that great? I have no idea....

When I had 2.2 on my X, there was some lag when I would touch the icon for Google Voice. If lag is an issue with that build, then I hope it's fixed for the final version that is pushed to our devices.

wow...way to go android community. This person had a real question and the first five posts are about how his phone doesn't hv froyo. Bunch of techie snobs...

And thanks goes out to the person that really helped. You're awesome for that

If this guy cared about his problem wouldn't he have made that the title of his thread? He made it what he did to get people to look at it, so if people want to call him out, I'm good with it

Interesting bunch of people here...

The reason I made the title of my thread what it was. I was hoping to get some other DX 2.2 users that might be able to help me with my call log problem.

I am very very new to the Droid and equally as a novice when it comes to android. Therefore, I have no reference to compare what is different and so on between 2.1 and 2.2.

So I didn't want to waste anyone's time by having them provide constructive suggestions for my phone's calling operation using 2.1 as a basis for their solutions.

As far as people calling out BS. So what? I don't care if you don't believe that my DX came to me loaded with 2.2. Why should I? But unfortunately there is no posted manual or instructions for 2.2. Everything I have read has pointed to 2.1.

Obviously this was the wrong place to come for assistance. I mistakingly read that this forum was to assist user with their problems with Android. I apologize for my mistake and will not bother anyone anymore on this forum with my problems.

Because it's a lie. I don't have to call Verizon tech support, because I have nothing to prove. The burden of proof lies with the OP. If it's out, post pics. 2.2 is not being sent out "as we speak," or nerd boards like this one would be blowing up.

I have nothing against nerds, I'm one too.

This is the right place to come for assistance. Problem is you posted to a forum full of users very anxious to receive unobtainium for their X, yet you claim to have unobtainium in you hand directly from the source and post no proof. Had everyone already obtained unobtainium or at least real news of it's existence this would be a non-issue.

Yeah, we've been hearing about these issues with the Droid 2, maybe that's why the X is taking a bit longer; Moto wants to make sure 2.2 doesn't bog down the X for some reason. Maybe they are having trouble getting the Motoblur homescreens to play nice with Froyo. Just give us stock! lol

Ugh..."Avatar" reference :p

Guys, remember it is a refurb unit, we have seen in the past that units have come with something other then the stock OS on it. I have read about people getting a refurb with the next OS or even a custom ROM on the unit when they got it! What is to say someone didn't root, install 2.2 have a problem and send it back and after it was certified like new it was sent out with 2.2?!?!

Also to the OP, don't let this get you discouraged with this community, This really is the best one I personally have been involved in. Far less arguing and bickering then any other, you will see it from time to time but over all people are very helpful here

I think that is the point most people are saying. It could be accidentally a leaked OS. But even then we have no proof that he has even that let alone the OEM release that we are anxiously awaiting the OTA release of.
