Re: I have a Gear 2- CAN SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE GOOGLE VOICE WORK ON IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Rina...
I have the same thoughts. The Gear 2 would be perfect with the camera, phone, and Android Voice. S Voice sounds unnecessarily throaty and is limited to simple commands. Google now really takes a smartphone smartwatch into the next level. The Gear S is way too heavy, and I didn't like it at all. It also lacks a camera.
I too wish Samsung wasn't trying to push their inferior market on an Google Android phone. They should just come out with their own operating system that allows for a like experience rather than use an Android platform then stick their S Voice alongside. Nothing jives that way, and their reluctance to integrate Google's Android features "Google Voice" just hurts us all. The Gear 2 Could have been the absolute best smartwatch if Samsung gave the voice feature access to Android search power.
I really wish they would have thought of the consumer in that choice. Now... It's rare to get a camera and phone (speaker) smartwatch setup in any smartwatch... So it's a forced S Voice limited command only interface for us all. A big waste of potential.
We're all now forced to compromise: get Google Voice/Now excellent calendar/search integration in an Android Wear Smartwatch without a speaker, phone, or camera, or get a clunky throaty command line only S Voice with camera and speaker phone options.
If Google/Android comes out with anything that resembles the nice look of the Gear 2 gold/brown with speaker phone, camera and Google Voice... Samsung will be left in the dust with their proprietary incompatible aged and simple command only focus.
This is being voiced everywhere. Maybe someone will listen someday. That day isn't today.
