I have a New unlocked LG V20 US996 and have a att gophone sim card in the phone and I have contacted LG, ATT Goggle to find out how I can get the latest update!!

Im on 7.0 and my last security patch is December 2016 and there have been releases thru May 2017. I have got the run around and just told you have to wait and I see on the XDA Forum that others have got the latest updates.

Im at wits ends and i am downloading to my laptop this file File name: US99610g_00_1216.kdz
Model: LGUS996
Operating system: Android 7.x Nougat

Can this be loaded on my phone or can someone help me get my phone updated?????

I have the same model US996, unfortunately no update since December 1, 2016. Honestly, if the phone performs great, why need an OS update? Still fluid and fast like the first day I got it in November. Usually unlocked versions don't get many updates. But the upside is no carrier branding and no bloatware. If you're concerned with security, you can install an anti-virus like LookOut for free.

Did you ever try the LG update software?

I have Mcafee on my phone and laptop but I want the security patches also.
I guess Ill just give up and jump off the ledge, who wants my phone before I jump from the first floor window???:-!

Just don't download too many apps that may contain spyware. I'm not too concerned with viruses. Usually updates only offer minor fixes, nothing noticeable. In most cases, updates actually slows down the phone or computer. I keep updates off on my Windows PC, computer runs like brand new and loads faster. You wonder why people do annual re-installs, because of the updates causing so much problems. You want a perfect example, go use a Samsung phone from 2 years ago with updates.

The US996 is not getting any updates, not sure why. The last one was the first one back in December. I sold mine and got a H990DS and I was able to update to the April patch. A little better!
