I have a rain shower and a glass enclosure so it makes it easier to hear because it isn't loud in there but I can't and I don't have a faulty device. The M8 is 75db and the M9 is 72db. The M8 is louder. Just a fact.

But 3db shouldn't make as big a difference as you describe. My M9 is plenty loud. Excessive loudness is not that important to me. I'm more into sound quality and my M9 sounds plenty good while still being loud.

All I know is I have both devices with me to compare in the same bathroom with different results. The M8 is louder. Even when I lean the M9 against the glass I still don't hear it clearly. I was hoping it wouldn't be so but it is.

I don't that is possible, but it should only be a minor difference if so. So I would say something is faulty about your M9. But ok, whatever.

Buddy. Nothing is faulty about my M9. lol. Its just not as loud. I was looking at the Nexus 6. That bad boy is way louder than the M8. I liked the M9 better overall though.

Viper4Android can do miracles.
My S6's speaker is now 3x louder thanks to V4A as well as BT and earphones volume.
Can't wait to switch to M9 to try it

I want to give this a shot but I don't want to bother rooting my phone unless 5.1 doesn't improve battery enough. I looked it up and it does look like a good option though.
