I've also noticed that phones in the stores never look as good as when you get your own setup the way you want. They always look washed out in the stores from my experiences.
I noticed they're slightly thicker band on the side as well. The phone I looked at was pulled from the back room, still in the box. Never turned on before.

Can you run a check to see if the flash memory (as I suspect) is truly UFS 2.1 on the Note 8?

No worries here. It has the multi color LED for notifications. I saw it in a video on YouTube. Erica Griffin's preview.

So far, everyone I have seen, except for Erica, is stating unequivocally that it is not there. Erica didn't demonstrate it or show it blinking, she only pointed to its supposed location. I would like positive confirmation of this.

Sorry to disappoint you but that was before the S7 edge. TMO use to send them out early. Since then it's been a day or two ahead of everyone. I think people may have complained that TMO was sending them out way too early compared to other carriers. Sorry again.

They are much less. More of a hard edge rather than the odd roll that the S7 edge has. Its very similar to the edge on the N7 which I loved.

To the OP, you still haven't touched on how the N8 screen compares to the N7 for finger prints and smudging. The N7 screen for me refused to collect prints, oil, smudges. I never had to wipe the screen, it was honestly one of my favorite features of the N7. I assume the N8 screen would be similarly as good, but looking to get your opinion since you've held both.
