I have a Tab S with Lollipop 5.02 and have 2 problems with Google Play.

The first problem is Google Play does not auto-update my apps. Sometimes (not always) a notification will indicate an update is available but I will have to go into Google Play and then MyApps to initiate update. Google Play is set to auto-update as are the individual apps but it just doesnt happen.

I have tried the usual remedies - delete cache, delete data, restart and uninstall updates - without success. To be fair to Lollipop this problem was happening when I had Kit Kat.

The second problem is the failure of manually initiated updates to succeed because of download error 194. This happens about 70% of the time. Some apps update OK but most fail. Once again I tried the usual remedies without success. I did have some success by disconnecting from my VPN but this is not a viable solution. This 194 error has only been turning up since Lollipop (June 2015), whereas I have been using the same VPN provider for 18 months.

Can advise on either of these problems.

Are you unable to access the web via a non-VPN network? It might be helpful to compare how it behaves when not connecting via VPN.

Yes I can access the web without using the VPN. But I wish to continue using the VPN for security as I rely on hotel and public wifi. Also the 194 error has been turning up in the last 2 months and I have been using VyprVPN for 18 months.

Just before reading your reply I managed to update an app without the 194 error. A prompt for the update had turned up in my Notifications but to execute the update I still had to enter Google Play/MyApps.

Thanks for your reply.

I don't know much about VPN's, but it really seems that the issue stems from your VPN. Sorry, but I can't really help you troubleshoot any further. Good luck!
