I have been forced to use gmail for my work email on my Samsung S6 and cannot view emails

I have deleted added a number of times but still cannot see my emails via the inbox just like standard email

What am I doing wrong

I assume you downloaded the Gmail app from playstore, logged in, then went to settings and made sure synch was on...?
