I have Network notifications turned off, why do I keep getting notifications?

Title says it all, very annoying. I have all WiFi notifications turned off in my WiFi settings yet I still get a pop-up every time I drive by a Wi-Fi signal. It also tries to automatically connect so it's to pop up screens per WiFi I have to back out of or dismiss.

If I remember right, you need a root access to permanently disable WiFi connections.

Check the preinstalled apps by your carrier. Often times there is a "smart wifi" app that gets in the way of things.

No pre-installed apps by carrier that I can see but still i get notifications on my moto E3 android 6.0. Very irritating. What else can i try

try the following, it should be the correct path but if not, it should be in your wifi settings somewhere

Go to Settings>Wi-fi, tap Menu>Advanced, and look for an option to automatically connect to open networks.
