I have root!

After a bit of trouble, I finally got my Dinc rooted tonight! My only problem was that I didn't know you needed the SDK kit. I couldn't figure out why Unrevoked wasn't doing it's thing until I found this guide linked in a thread in here. Once I got that settled, it was a snap.

I may or may not have let out a high-pitched squee when it was done.

I've got my nandroid backup, I've got the free version of Titanium backup (paid version to be purchased soon, I think), I've changed my boot animation, I've gotten rid of some of the stock apps I didn't use... it is good. I've come over to the dark side, and I LIKE it!

I had to post here, because none of my friends seem to appreciate the spectacle that is the rooted Incredible. They clearly have no idea how to REALLY party on a Friday night.

By the way, I also want to express my appreciation for this forum. I've spent the last few days reading a bunch of the threads here, and not only did it convince me to root, but it gave me the courage to try it. I'm the type of person who is always convince I'm going to break something, so I may not have ever rooted without the "Yes! This is so easy!" posts in this forum.

CONGRATS MAN! Rooting is one of the best things you can do with an Android phone in my opinion. When I get a new phone I honestly don't even activate it until it gets root access ( I know sounds stupid ) but it just does not feel complete until I have it. Rooting really is a great thing and is not hard at all. A lot of people think they are going to brick their phones n stuff, but in reality it's pretty hard to brick your phone. I have done so much hacking and things of that nature and never have bricked a phone ( even when I first started out and did not know anything about what I was doing ). Well, now since your rooted GO GET YOURSELF SOME FROYO! There are some decent ROMs out but it will get A LOT better in due time. Once Cyanogen 6 is out and complete that will be the best way to go in my honest opinion. Well anyways welcome to the dark side and ENJOY YOUR REWTED INCREDIBLE!!!

Well, now since your rooted GO GET YOURSELF SOME FROYO! There are some decent ROMs out but it will get A LOT better in due time. Once Cyanogen 6 is out and complete that will be the best way to go in my honest opinion. Well anyways welcome to the dark side and ENJOY YOUR REWTED INCREDIBLE!!!

I think I'm going to wait on Froyo. I use my camera all the time, and don't want to lose that. I probably will spend some time playing with different ROMS soon so I can see what the different options are, but for now I'm pretty happy with Sense and everything as it is.

Well, I can't say much but one thing I can tell you is that with ALL Froyo ROMs everything is going to be fixed in them within this week. Be on the look out for something I post to flash over any Froyo ROM that will fix all issues.
