I have the capability to add uknown sources to your phone!!!

Hey on another thread they had a way to unlock the feature from your phone. But now i can't send or receive mms messages and get a "generic network failure". Do you know how to fix this by any chance?

Hard reset is the only way sorry bud

Do you happen to know if the upcoming Gingerbread update will take care of the MMS issue without a hard reset? Also, what would I lose by doing a hard reset that syncing back won't fix? Finally, I've installed Go SMS as an alternative but I have no idea if that works around the issue as some have mentioned before. I don't use SMS often let alone MMS but I still want to be open to receiving photos or the like if someone sends me any.

I texted you.

Here's to hoping I can get this update to work THIS way (since the online chat reps seem to not be able to help me at all and SWEAR the update has been pushed to my phone already)

Worked with Dilrod yesterday on this. Literally had it in less than 5 minutes.

If we had End of Year Forum Awards this guy would be Member of the Year HANDS DOWN!

Dilrod

Text sent. Hopefully you can get this to work for me (even tho the reps keep telling me my phone is one of those that's just been unable to receive the update)

Tnx

Much

Very

:)

Looks like my phone is in the unlucky 25%.

Oh well.

Thanks anyway

It'd actually be nice if we knew *why* some phones just aren't able to run the update, regardless where we get it from. Especially considering that the Gingerbread update is coming soon - are we going to deal with the same issue? Of course calling AT&T and asking them such a detailed issue is useless since they won't tell us anything

Maybe att would be willing to give you an employee account so that you could use the cross-functional device manager to send the push to yourself.

On a serious note, it does seem to me that the update success is related to the location of the phone and the location of the origination of the push. The network path does seem to have something to do with the success rate.

I was successful today in updating a device that originally failed. If we have tried, and it's been more than 24 hours, let's try again.

Lol, so I requested access to the xdm tool and I was granted it. I have successfully updated 3 phones so far. It is a very simple procedure.

1. Turn off wifi and restart your phone. If you want, text me your imei and I will text you back.

304-382-2158 is my at&t work cell. I will work with you through texting.

2. I only work until 9pm tonight, and I do have other things to do so I may not be able to answer right away.
I will contine to look at this thread.

3. When I tell you ok, restart your phone, go to settings > applications > and you should see "unknown sources"

The three I have done so far took less than 5 minutes to do start to finish.

UPDATE: I will be in training M-F this week from 8am to 6pm (est). So if you want this done, message me after 6pm.
Thank you so much! After months of trying I finally have it

I am interested in this, if anyone can answer my question above about hard resetting and perhaps Gingerbread. Thanks.

If your running android 2.3 gingerbread you have that ability. It's under menu/settings/applications.

Agreed. I can't believe this is still an issue. It was fixed for good with the Gingerbread update. I'm sure it's just that people are not realizing you have to check the box to allow it.
