So i have to return to stock because i have to take it back to sprint to get my kickstand and screen fixed. Im about to unroot but i was wondering if i should flash the eclair ruu? I do not feel like rooting the hard way for froyo again (scared me) and certainly not unrevoked... Any thoughts?

You might be able to get away with not even unrooting. It's a hardware issue not software. So it's not like they're gonna try and do any updates or whatever. You could probably get away with just flashing a stock rooted rom (do a nandroid backup of whatever you're using now) and they wouldn't know the difference since technically it's bone stock.

Im also having weird battery issues, it takes about 3 hours to charge and battery is not lasting long, plus crashes. So i kinda have to unroot. I wanna see what they can do (i doubt much, they're idiots there) because i dont feel like claiming lost and having to pay 100$
I dont want the latest ruu because its a pain to root... i guess i could though...stock froyo is not fun...but stock eclair just sucks
I don't think I would ever consider rooting - mostly because of issues like these, causing you to return the phone for repairs. Just to be on the safe side... I would suggest removing any modifications off the device.
Maybe the 3.29 Ruu will work....please don't downgrade to eclair, its really old and useless at this point

The point of downgrading to Eclair is it's easy to root as opposed to rooting Froyo... If he downgraded to 2.1 and turned in his phone in to get repaired, as soon as he got it back he can run Simple Root and be rooted again within 5 minutes.
All you have to do is do a Nandroid backup which backs up the entire ROM before you return to stock. This way all you have to do is reroot and restore your backup and you'll be exactly where you started. Once you unroot it'll undo everything since you'll be overriding everything...
It would have been a better scenario if your screen cracked....anyway, I would Ruu to the earliest build of frpo that isn't a pain in the ass to root

No. That doesn't make sense. The easiest way to root the Evo with Froyo is actually to downgrade to 2.1.. So why go through all the work of downgrading to 2.1 if he can just run the 2.1 RUU, get his phone back and just root in 5 minutes instead of using the 2.2 RUU then having to go through the process of downgrading to 2.1 when he can be on 2.1 already?

The earliest build with the easiest ROOT IS 2.1. Mostly ALL the 2.2 methods have you DOWNGRADE to 2.1, hence all the adb push and chmod!... so, save yourself the chance of bricking, and go to 2.1 and run simpleroot. You'll be rooted in less than 5 minutes. Flash a new ROM, BAM YOUR AT 2.2!
