I just got hit for$1000

Because Samsung set the rules for the user to comply with, which he did. He even went above and beyond to record that he fully complied with Samsung's requirements. FedEx losing or stealing the phone isn't and shouldn't be the user's responsibility in this case. If the user is given free reign to ship the phone back in whatever way he chooses, then you may have an argument. Since Samsung required using FedEx, which is gaining a reputation for stealing phones, it's on Samsung to deal with FedEx and not the user.
100%, I think one of my preorders was stolen by a FedEx employee. Samsung took care of it immediately once the shipment went Lala land. No fuzz, everything was handled why Sammy.

Yeah, personally, I would never use my own shipping, even though Samsung lets you do that.

With the shipping label Samsung provided, I could tell Samsung well I did everything you asked for, and Samsung could work with FedEx or whomever, behind the scenes. If you use your own shipping, they can just say it's your problem and you're on your own.
Using your own carrier is not a good choice, that's for sure. You just create more headaches if something goes wrong. Best bet, just use the provided return labels autogenerated by their system. And it is much easier to track.

Thanks. Not surprised the AI instructions left out a key component, that you'll be responsible for the shipping costs (and recommended insurance). That may seem obvious, but not to people that would treat that as gospel.

So back onto the topic... Yes this is an option, but Samsung is highly encouraging you to use their preferred shipper (FedEx) by giving you the prepaid label for them. If you go that route, you have still followed their rules and suggestion, so is still on them to deal with FedEx..

Of course you'll be responsible for the shipping costs.

I've had issues with a trade in via FedEx. I called FedEx, they told me to call Samsung since they paid for the shipping. I called Samsung and they told me to call FedEx, so now you know Samsung doesn't always handle the FedEx directly, it turns into a vicious circle for a while.

I do agree you are better using the FedEx shipping label as Samsung knows that's their shipping label being used, it's also what stops reminder emails to send in the trade in or be charged when the tracking number goes live. In the end, Samsung needs to drop FedEx for returns also.

Samsung just charged me $1000. They said my trade in never showed up. I sent it on the 6th. I videoed myself packing it and handing it over to FedEx. I also have receipts. I sent all of this to Samsung and they still charged me.

Tracking says that it's still at the Fed ex but that Fed ex says that it's not there. They are assuming that the driver might have taken it and not scan it.

It's crazy that they say I did my part but that they can still charge me.

What's the quickest way to get that money back?
I have a quick question...did you ever receive a email from Samsung reminding you to send in your trade in or you will be charged?

Also, have you gotten anywhere with Samsung on this yet?

Only if you let it turn into a vicious circle. If it happened to me, Samsung would be the first and only company I'm calling. They know it's on them to deal with FedEx, and telling you to handle it is just passing the buck in hopes you just give up.

Though I personally don't even go that route. If I'm trading in, I do so through my carrier where I can hand it over directly to a store employee and be done with it. Otherwise I'll sell it myself.

Yea, that's one advantage of carrier trade-ins. No dealing with FedEx. It puts the full responsibility on the carrier. If FedEx loses the trade-ins when the stores ship it back to the warehouse, then it's all on the carrier to find it and account for it.
