I just updated my V30+ to Oreo. I can't tell the difference. Is there anything I should be looking for?

There weren't a lot of visual changes from Nougat. There were a fair amount of under the hood changes.

Just got it as well. The settings menu looks slightly different. I read that battery life will improve although mine was stellar already.

I did notice that the stock Optimize widget worked lightning fast now.

I was really hoping to see the added feature of allowing dual blue tooth audio, though, something that the Note 8 does have.

When you get the Oreo, you also get the dual bluetooth audio feature. It's part of the Bluetooth 5.0 package which is also a part of Oreo.

Notification dots should be pretty obvious. Also picture-in-picture comes in pretty handy with Youtube TV & any other video playback.

Thanks very much. Yes the picture in picture is cool. I was using maps to get to a location and it minimized itself into a small window when I switched to another app.

Wow will look up dual Bluetooth audio tomorrow that would be the best new feature for me.

how do you do picture in picture

You first bring up the App you wish to have in picture-in-picture. Tap on the app manager (square) button or the home (circle) button. The App should switch over to picture-in-picture. A couple of Apps you could try would be Youtube TV, Youtube & Google Maps. Keep in mind this all assuming you installed the Oreo update.

I believed that only maps, Chrome and YouTube will function with picture in picture at this time. Although maps is the only one I've seen do it so far.

Can anyone tell me if dual-audio Bluetooth is possible on v30+ ?

I should probrably clarify just a little about the dual-audio for bluetooth. So with Bluetooth 5.0 by default you can connect to multiple devices, but you can only stream audio to one device at a time. The limitation is at the Bluetooth chip (transmitter) level. So if you're looking for "dual-streaming"...the hardware on the V30 won't be able to support it.

What kind of speakers are you trying to use? There's a couple workarounds to make it work though.

Wow, excellent. Thanks.

I am trying to stream one song from Spotify to both speakers at once. The speakers are a Sharkk Wave Bluetooth speaker and a Vizio Bluetooth soundbar.

I did some research on this and found that there is a classic blue tooth that handles the large file streaming that you hear coming from blue tooth speakers, and another newer form of the Bluetooth which is designed to transmit smaller types of data. If I understood correctly.

So, in that case, I believe it was mentioned that BT 5.0 really just allows you to connect to multiple devices but only stream to one. Which using blue tooth classic for the streaming and the new smaller Bluetooth to handle the other connection.

It turns out dual audio is a function created for the new Samsungs not because they have 5.0.

I think.

Some of the top tier bluetooth speakers can link more speakers to a single bluetooth transmission ie JBL Connect. For different brands, I would look into a separate bluetooth transmitter. The latest Samsung phones have a propietary chipset that can transmit at least two signals. The V30 was never configured to run with all the latest Oreo features. It was designed around Nougat. So any new features that require hardware upgrades won't be fully excerised.

This article would be a good starting point (it's in German so you would need to translate with your browser) it should work:

Thanks very much man. It's good to finally get a straight answer on this. Will look at that link soon.
