I know this is shady

A lot of people on here on there high horse that feel the fact of putting this guy down because he beat the system, all I can say is good for you and don't feel bad because the companies would think twice of screwing you over

I dont want any justification.. I made this post because I do feel guilty and wanted make sure i didnt do something to screw myself over with law

Feeling guilty because you did something wrong, and worrying about whether or not you'll get caught are two different things. I hope as you raise your kid you can teach him/her the difference between the two.

I am a damn good father please keep my parenting skills out of this

I love how the struggling out of work single father is on here talking about his 2 Galaxy tabs and how he wants to go ahead and buy a Prime.

And what you did is theft. I'm sure they won't prosecute, but it is. Just because they didn't catch you does not mean they have no recourse.

see your opinon is your own. There is alot of people in my same shoes that are robbing, drug dealing, and etc... I am standing in a employment line every day to find a new job. I am giving that to my son for Xmas since he likes to play angry birds so get over your self righteous self.

I'm glad your looking for work and caring for your son. But theft, especially so you can give him a $500 tablet for Xmas is absurd. Did your old Galaxy tab not play Angry Birds?

By the way, you can get an Ipod Touch for under $200 that plays Angry Birds. Or a Kindle Fire.

I have to ask a question... why bring this here? You seem to be seeking absolution - it's not gonna happen. Even if there are more people here that will express the view that this was OK than the view this was dishonest and wrong - you will see enough negative comments that absolution isn't going to be there. You have your reasons for making your decisions - and those who disagree with you can't make you change your mind any more than you can make us accept your reasons.

We can talk about why it was wrong or right and why it might be a bad thing or a good thing - but emotions are going to get wrapped up into it.

From my perpective - you did the wrong thing. You then compounded it by disclosing a crime in a public forum which I would guess is against the Terms Of Service (TOS) here. I would not expect legal action from this but I would not be 100% comfortable if I were you. Furthermore I agree with another person earlier who said that you caused harm to all people who are honest and abide by the rules - this type of thing is why the process of returning items is more onerous than it needs to be - no one trusts anyone anymore because examples like this occur and people learn from them and copy them and soon the returns are even harder. Not to mention the fact that now the manufacturer and two stores have to figure out why their return inventory doesn't match and there is a dollar cost to that - so the price charged for services goes up... or the store eventually folds and more people are out of work.

Last but not least - I am here to support you despite all of this. No one should be calling you names or insulting your parenting skills - we don't know you well enough to know all the details of your life and only the relative lack of repercussions for being rude allows people to treat each other so nasty - but next time - think it through before you share this kind of thing publicly with strangers. Not saying it outloud doesn't change it to be less dishonest - but it does avoid public lynching and potential employers from seeing your failure. There are services that build online profiles and connect the dots of multiple accounts and names and try to determine who you are - and employers are looking at data like that to see what can be learned about a candidate. You may have shot yourself in the foot by talking about this publicly.

In any case - have a good holiday.

absolutely corrrect. being an IT tech ( work experience in security company) I can only confirm that. it is surprising how people openly discuss many private issues in forums and especially twitter, facebook and such. things like that not tend to end well. especially nowadays...
happy holidays everyone :) hope you all get your preordered TFP on time :)

Yea I dont really want reply this anymore but I do agree with being called out about my actions it was wrong but I just want drop it now lol

Good for you man. I had a 2500 buck Sony Vaio that I got as a high school graduation/starting college present. This thing was a 17 inch with blu-ray writer and all kinds of extras. A year later one of the hatches holding the screen to the keyboard broke so I took it back to get some work done on it after 5 weeks of getting run around they called me in to tell me that they accidentally bricked it and tried to give me a 600 dollar POS Gateway without blu-ray as the same computer that they deemed to be comparable. It took me another 3 weeks of fighting with store and regional managers just to get an identical computer out of them. The entire time I was pretty much treated like a moron by every person who kept coming up with the same diminution in product value argument. Also this in the internet who really cares what people say anyway?

I agree Best buy is terrible, They lost my brothers laptop a couple years ago and more recently lost his camera. They spent weeks looking then finally replaced them but there's no excuse for that. I agree best buy needs to be hurt a little. But at least you have a conscious pang from it, that's better than walking out feeling good. I'd say learn from it and don't do it again, in the mean time enjoy christmas with your son and kudos to you for being willing to work and actively looking for a job. I wish you the best of luck in finding a job and have a great Christmas.
