Hi all,

I am not sure if this was after my latest software update or not, but I no longer can receive the pop preview texts when they come through. All of my Messages settings for notifications are on for it to come through, but it still isn't working. I even tried an online suggestion to cutoff the Edge lighting and that didn't help either. Does anyone have any ideas of what else I could do? Thanks so much!!

Go to Settings>Apps, select your messaging app, then App Notifications. Tap Default, then Importance, and make sure that's set to Urgent.

I made sure that it was set to default, but I can't change importance unfortunately. Hmm, let me see if this helps. Thanks also either way.

Well I found where I can change the importance for General Notifications, so I did, but it didn't help. Maybe it's Oreo that screwed me up.

Oh wait, this time when I went to notifications again, I was able to go in New Messages and change the importance there and it fixed my problem. Thanks so much.

That didn't work for me. I have a Galaxy S7 and all settings are set to on for preview / pop ups AND set to urgent, but no preview/pop ups when I get text messages, just the sound. Same with my calendar, it's also set for pop-up notifications but only the sound is working when my calendar notifies me and no pop up.

Can you also check to see if the same thing happens in Safe Mode?

Tried it in safe mode but the nothing changes. And also what's weird is when the screen is off and I get a text message, the screen turns back on as if a preview was going to pop up but there is no preview. Just the screen turning on and the notification sound, but no preview/pop-up. It's almost like the pop-up is invisible.
